review: makeup by mario (master metals eyeshadow palette)

Makeup by Mario has been an important part of my makeup routine lately. Eyeshadows that shimmer and shine have always made me happy...but the Master Metallics Eyeshadow Palette and the Master Metals Eyeshadow Palette have really raised the bar. Especially the latter! The Master Metals Eyeshadow Palette may look like just another eyeshadow palette, but it is anything but ordinary. This is a unique and versatile product that can be used in many different ways. Plus, the shade selection is top notch. Ready to find out more about this high end item? Here is everything you need to know about this unforgettable palette.

The Makeup by Mario Master Metals Eyeshadow Palette contains five metal eyeshadow shades. They are described as being high-metal shine and liquid foil-effects that are "inspired by Earth's natural metals." The shade names are not overly exciting but they certainly fit in well with that description. There is silver, gold, copper, bronze and rose gold to choose from. Though the Silver shade has a slight blue tone and the Rose Gold shade is appears more burgundy than anything else. Despite the names...the shades themselves really are beautiful. It is a wonderful selection of colours that really stands out.

Something important to note? Those swatches were done without the use of the Metal Manipulator. What makes this palette so unique is the fact that the shadows can really transform depending on how you use them. For instance, applying the shadows with a brush will deliver a softer metallic finish. Applying the shadows with your finger will create a much bolder and more intense look. And lastly, using a few drops of the Metal Manipulator (which is sadly sold separately) will create a molten metal finish. It is far more intense, has an intense level of shine, and lasts all day long without creasing. The staying power and longevity is by far the most enticing reason to reach for the manipulator.

The Master Metals palette is actually designed to pair with the Metal Manipulator. There is a removable tray underneath the eyeshadow shades themselves. The idea is that you scrape a bit of the product into the tray. Add a few drops of the Metal Manipulator. Then mix the two together to create a more intense and long-lasting finish. This is so unique to anything in my existing makeup collection and it really is fun to mix the shadow and manipulator together. Plus, the end result is gorgeous! I just wish that the two were sold together instead of separately, as that really increases the price point. For reference, the Master Metals Eyeshadow Palette is $64 CDN and the Metal Manipulator is $18 CDN.

Though the price point is high...this eyeshadow palette is a serious standout. The shadows can be as subtle or intense as you want them to be! In my opinion, this is really different to anything else in Sephora right now. It stands out for all the right reasons. Here is a recent makeup look that I created using the Copper shade all over the lid.

My latest YouTube video goes into a lot more detail. For instance, you can see comparison swatches (brush swatch, finger swatch, and Metal Manipulator swatch) and find out how to use the mixing tray. There is also a demo for a makeup look that puts the Rose Gold shade to the test and a full review of the Master Metals Eyeshadow Palette. Take a look...

Expensive? Absolutely. Worth it? Most definitely. The Master Metals Eyeshadow Palette is a really unexpected release from Makeup by Mario. It allows Sephora shoppers to bring makeup artist techniques home. This is a palette that not only looks beautiful but has an added layer of versatility thanks to add-ons like the Metal Manipulator. While it is certainly has a high end price point...it might just be worth the splurge for makeup enthusiasts on the hunt for something unexpected.

Are you a fan of the Makeup by Mario line? Will you be trying the Master Metals Eyeshadow Palette?
