morphe x coca cola 1971 unity collection (mini reviews + haul)

If you ask me...there was something special about the 70s. Despite everything that was happening in the world, there was this beautiful sense of hope that could not be denied. There was a belief that activism, positivity and kindness could truly make a difference. Sometimes, I wish there was more hope in the world today. Though, it is understandably difficult to be hopeful with more immediate access to news (both good and bad) and the constant barrage of opinions (both good and bad) on social media. Perhaps the latest collaboration from Morphe x Coca Cola can act as a reminder that there is always room for a little optimism. The 1971 Unity Collection states that it is intended to be "a look at the past and a glimpse into the future with warmth, togetherness, and a hopeful spirit." Talk about makeup with meaning! Recently, this collection has been in heavy rotation. It has been wonderful to test and try these different products, like the eyeshadow palette, brushes, lip glosses, and mascara. Here are mini reviews of each of the different items in this Morphe x Coca Cola Collection.

Sweep The Peace Five-Piece Eye Brush Set and Bag. First up in this makeup haul is the Coca Cola brush set and bag. Let's start with the actual brush bag. This is absolutely adorable and fits the theme so well. It is a circular brush bag with flowers, happy faces, and peace signs all over. This just screams 70s to me and I love everything about it. The design is so fun, colourful, and overloaded with hope and happiness. As for the brushes themselves, there are five in total, including the Shadow Chaser Brush, Whirled Peace Blender Brush, Blended Fam Brush, Focus on Hue Brush an the Arch With 'Em Brow Brush. The fact that there are different colours and that each brush has the Coca Cola x Morphe logo is super cute. Also, these work really well. The bristles are soft and they make it really easy to apply product. The blender brush is definitely a standout.

1971 Edition Make It Big Volumizing Mascara. When it comes to mascaras, there are a handful that I adore and the rest tend to fall somewhat flat. My favourites include The Super Sizer, Better Than Sex, and They're Real! Since I am pretty committed to those favourites, I wasn't really sure what to expect from the Make it Big Volumizing Mascara. Despite some of the brand claims (like an innovative wand design and 100% of users experiencing instant volume)....this mascara was only okay for me. I love the packaging and the iconic Coca Cola logo printed on the side. But I don't find the wand to be overly innovative and the product tends to gather around the top during use. This makes it somewhat messy. However, the end result is solid and it certainly makes the lashes look nice. I just don't know that I love this enough to purchase another tube in future.

Lip In Harmony 4-Piece Mini Lip Gloss Set. Glosses are always somewhat tricky. There are so many on the market but not all of them are useable, in my opinion. I hate anything that is tacky or sticky, but love the gorgeous finish of a gloss. So there are only a handful of glosses that meet this criteria. Thankfully, these Morphe x Coca Cola glosses perform well, feel comfortable on the lips, and are not sticky. Such a lovely surprise! There are four shades in total: All The Feels (plumb coloured gloss), Full of Hope (coral coloured gloss), Perfect World (pink-nude coloured gloss), and Join Voices (brown-nude coloured gloss). The first two are really nicely pigmented and look beautiful. The last two look really pretty as well, but there isn't a huge colour difference between the two. In such a small set, it would've been wonderful to see a little more variety. That being said, these glosses are beautiful and Full of Hope is a serious must-have shade. Plus, the gloss names fit perfectly with the 70s theme.

Awe Together Artistry Palette. Eyeshadow palettes will always own my heart. They are my absolute favourite! I love playing with different colours and finishes to create a makeup look that is distinct and exciting day after day. The Awe Together Artistry Palette is a wonderful way to do just that. It includes a combination of matte, shimmer, and glitter shades with lots of earthy colours that just scream 70s. For instance, there are lots of browns, warm metallics, greens, and blues. The shade selection is excellent (it is possible to create neutral everyday looks, colourful creations, and smokey nighttime looks) and the quality is impressive. This is far more consistent than the last Coca Cola palette from Morphe. Especially when it comes to the glittery shades. The golden glitter on the top row, Lovey Dovey, is a stunning glitter shade that also doubles as a highlight for the cheeks. It isn't flaky and it looks beautiful. There is also a stunning holographic shade and some seriously smooth matte shadows. All in all, the Awe Together Artistry Palette is impressive, wearable, and downright thrilling to use.

Want to take a peek at those lip glosses in action? My latest video is a first impressions lip gloss try on featuring the four shades included in the Lip in Harmony set. Take a look and be sure to tell me what your favourite is....

Have you tried anything from the Morphe x Coca Cola 1971 Unity collection?

  6. This is such a fun collection! I like the glosses although I wouldn't use them much - our mask rules are in place for when we are indoors so lipstick and lipgloss aren't a good idea at the moment, haha! Even though we have no cases they say they will keep the mask thing up for a while :)

    Thanks for sharing this!

Hope your week is off to a good start :)

    1. Mask rules are in place where I live, too. So they will mostly get used when I am at home and feel like being fancy! But that's okay for now!
