perfume review: paris hilton platinum rush

I am no stranger to Paris Hilton perfumes. In fact, my collection is finally complete. For the last couple of years, I have been looking for the follow up to Rose Rush. Platinum Rush was released in 2018 but despite constantly keeping my eyes peeled....I couldn't manage to get my hands on a bottle. Personally, I don't like to order fragrances online because you never really know if the bottle will make it to your doorstep unscathed. So instead, I looked in every perfume and beauty shop imaginable trying to hunt down this bottle. Sadly my search was unsuccessful. On the plus side? My mom was able to track down a bottle and gifted it to me over the holidays. Since then, I've been reaching for this fabulous fragrance day after day.

fill your life with experiences.

Niagara has become my home away from home lately. It's true! I've gone four times in the past four months. There were discount shopping trips, holiday musicals, and concerts galore. One thing is certain: this entertainment area always has plenty to see and do. Most recently, my husband and I visited Niagara Falls to celebrate Valentine's Day. We jetted off for a few days to see a concert, eat delicious food, and do some sightseeing. In case you're curious - or are dreaming of your own Niagara getaway - here are a few of my recent vacation highlights.

#FOTD feat. NYX Love Lust Disco Collection

Every once and a while, a collection comes out that is instantly intriguing. That perfect describes the Love Lust Disco collection from NYX. There was so much to choose from! Lip sets, eyeshadow palettes, and even highlight sets. It was overwhelming in the best possible way. Luckily, there are a handful of items from the collection that I've been able to put to use lately. That includes the Love Lust Disco Rose and Play Shadow Palette, the Lip Lingerie Kit, and the Lip Cream Lip Vault. Ready to see some of those products in action? How about a mini review or two? Here goes....

makeup revolution week: eyeshadow palettes (3 palettes 3 looks)

One thing I cannot seem to get enough of? Eyeshadow palettes. My obsession with eyeshadow palettes knows no bounds. I can't even imagine the number of palettes I've reviewed here on the creation of beauty is art. over the years! It is something of an obsession. So imagine my delight when I discovered that this holiday set from Revolution (aka Makeup Revolution or Makeup Revolution London) included not one, not two, but three eyeshadow palettes. There is the Metallic Crush Pigment Palette, Ultimate Neutrals Pigment Palette, and the Velvet Mattes Pigment Palette. Since there were so many eyeshadows to test and try...I decided to do a 3 palettes 3 looks post. So there will be one makeup look made from each palette along with a mini review of the overall quality. Here goes!

makeup revolution week: haul + review (setting sprays and primers)

There are many reasons the holiday season is special. The traditions, time spent with family, and all of the beautiful twinkling lights. Another perk? Fabulous holiday beauty sets. The months of November and December are notorious for all of the special makeup and beauty collections. During that time, I was given a holiday set loaded with items from Revolution (also commonly called Makeup Revolution or Makeup Revolution London). The amount of product inside was shocking - in a good way. There were twelve items in all with all but one of those items being full-sized versions. With so much to test, try, and review from the brand...I wanted to highlight and dig into those products properly. That is why this is the first post of the latest theme week here on the creation of beauty is art. Ready to find out what is inside the holiday box? Learn more about each product? Keep reading to find out all the essential information about this holiday release.

you can always gain by giving love.

Love is in the air. Or at least, it should be! After all, today is Valentine's Day. For some, it is a time of romance and laughter. For others, a time of dread. Often naysayers focus on the obligation aspect, the pressure of it all, or perhaps not having a partner. Personally? I love any excuse to celebrate and enjoy a holiday. Single, taken, or in between...Valentine's Day is a wonderful time to celebrate all things happy and joyful. It is a time to be with loved ones (whether that means family, friends, or a romantic partner) and make special memories. To show how much you care. Are you ready to celebrate? To enjoy this oh-so-fabulous holiday? Here is a little inspiration to kick-start your day....

stila part two: light up the night (eye and lip set review)

Are you ready for part two of my Stila review? In my last blog post dedicated to the Liquid Eyeshadow Set, I mentioned that this brand wasn't largely on my radar. Though I'd tried a few things here or there...it simply wasn't a brand that I found myself purchasing in bulk. However, in recent months, a couple of Stila sets made their way into my makeup collection. The first was the liquid eyeshadow set and the second set is the focus of today's post. The Light Up The Night Eye & Lip Set includes an eyeliner, mascara, and a lip gloss. Definitely a great way to test and try a handful of products from the brand. Here is everything you need to know about this high-end beauty set.

stila part one: the fourth dimension (liquid eyeshadow set review)

Stila is a brand that has long been on my radar - and yet isn't one that I am overly familiar with. My experience is limited to an eyeshadow palette from years ago and a couple of liquid lipstick samples. Until last year, that is. My husband bought me a set of their liquid eyeshadows for Christmas. I was completely and totally obsessed - and meant to do a full review here on the creation of beauty is art. but never seemed to get around to it. This year? He treated me to even more liquid eyeshadows from Stila. So...The Fourth Dimension set has made its way into my makeup collection. This particular set includes four liquid shadows. Two of the shades are the Glitter + Glow formula and two are Shimmer + Glow. Ready to learn more about these fabulous shadows? See them in action? Here goes...

review: rose quartz eyeshadow palette

Some eyeshadow palettes break the bank. Others barely leave a scratch. Despite the (often massive) price differences between high end and drugstore offerings....quality can vary. For instance, there are pricey palettes in my collection that are only so-so and affordable palettes that continually knock my socks off. While there may be more prestige linked to high-end names and noteworthy brands, it is worthwhile to take a gamble on more cost effective releases. Why? You never know what hidden gem you might uncover. Take the Color Central Rose Quartz Eyeshadow Palette. A little while back, this palette caught my eye while I was out and about. Maybe it was the compact size. Maybe it was the theme. Or perhaps it had to do with the five dollar price point. Want to find out whether this hidden gem (pun intended) turned out to be a winner? Then you are in the right place. Keep reading for a full review with all the details.

shoppers drug mart sample haul + movies and mocktails event

Samples have a way of making people smile. Of bringing forth feelings of excitement. Or at least that seemed to be the case at a recent movies and mocktails event I attended. (Sound familiar? I also attended the event last year and documented the experience here on the creation of beauty is art. In case you missed that post - or want a refresher - my first movies and mocktails post can be found here.) In addition to a decked out candy table, lots of fruity mocktails, tables with beauty representatives, photo opportunities, and of course, a girly movie...each attendee also received a goodie bag of samples. Some of those samples were food items and a few were more practical items, like tissues and glasses wipes. However, easily the most exciting things were related to skin care, makeup, and beauty. Ready to see what was inside this fabulous sample bag? Here are some of the standouts.

harry potter cauldron candle review + reveal (charmed aroma)

Harry Potter has long been an obsession of mine. I have fond memories of midnight release parties, crying at the movies with my friends, and staying up to all hours of the night pouring over page after page. Of spending time at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studies and even visiting the Harry Potter Studios in England. Harry Potter is a pretty big deal in my life! So of course when Charmed Aroma announced a Harry Potter inspired candle, my ears perked up. I wanted it. Needed it. Sadly, I wasn't able to order one for myself thanks to how quickly the candles seemed to sell out. On the plus side? My mom put her name on a wait-list and was able to order me one as a Christmas gift. I was so excited. There was one particular ring I had my heart set on (the glasses with the lightening bolt, of course) so I was especially eager to start burning the cauldron candle. What was inside? How did the candle smell? Did this Charmed Aroma release live up to the buzz? Keep reading for my full review and a reveal of the Harry Potter inspired ring.

makeup, accessories, and beauty favourites (january 2020)

Ever have that favourite feeling? Where you reach for the same things day after day, in a blissful state of admiration? That is kind of how the month of January has been for me. Admittedly, the new year had a bit of a rough start (thanks to the fact that I got sick immediately after the holidays) but in the latter portion of January...things finally started to come together. That meant adding a little extra TLC to my life and beauty routine. So without further ado, here are a few of the makeup, accessories, and all around beauty favourites that stood out to me last month.
