rediscovered product: nars turkish delight lip gloss

NARS used to be my all-time favourite high-end brand. For a long time, my makeup collection was overloaded with the iconic NARS blush shades, eyeshadow palettes, eyeliners, and lip products. Over time, that love faded a bit. Their new releases stopped wowing. They didn't stand out the same way they had before. Ultimately, other high-end brands eclipsed NARS and became my new favourites. That being said...NARS still has plenty of must-haves. One is the lip gloss, Turkish Delight. This is a lip product that first entered my life way back in 2011. (As seen in this old-school Sephora haul.) It was an instant love. The colour and formula made me positively giddy. Recently, I was digging through my lipstick collection looking for a particular colour and finish. After a few minutes, I realized exactly what I was looking for: Turkish Delight.

It wasn't too long ago that I placed a Sephora order with a few essentials. At that time, I decided to add on Turkish Delight by NARS to see if it was as wonderful as I remembered. Was the colour still gorgeous? Had the formula been changed? It wasn't long before a brand spanking new tube of lip gloss was delivered to my doorstep. The first thing I noticed? The packaging had changed somewhere down the line. The square tube used to have a matte finish on the outside and the logo placement was on the tube itself rather than the handle. Other than that, it looked very much the same.

According to the brand, this lip gloss is moisturizing and is enriched with nourishing ingredients. It provides long-lasting comfortable wear and a luminous shine. This is certainly true! Though a few years have passed since last purchasing the product...the formula feels very much the same. This is an ultra shiny gloss that feels really comfortable. It adds lots of moisture and doesn't feel sticky. Without a doubt, this remains my favourite lip gloss formula.

As for the colour, there is a reason that Turkish Delight is a lip product favourite. This is described as a pink sherbet and that is very accurate. The shade is a light baby pink with almost a hint of coral. Unlike some other lip glosses out there, it is also nicely pigmented. The colour can really be built up as desired. Personally, two layers is ideal in terms of colour. It gives you that gorgeous, glossy pale pink but doesn't feel too heavy or overdone. This really is a spectacular lip gloss shade and formula. It is certainly expensive (retails at $32 CDN) but is well-worth the occasional splurge.

This NARS lip gloss is an important part of my makeup makeup past, present, and future. It has been so much fun rediscovering this gorgeous product. One thing is certain: Turkish Delight remains one of the most beloved items in my collection.

Are you a fan of NARS? Do you have any rediscovered product favourites?

  3. Turkish Delight is such a classic:) I remember when I loved NARS too. I used to freelance as a MUA (not so much anymore) and had a lot of NARS stuff. I must admit I still love the brand, but yeah...I do think other brands definitely surpassed it the past few years.
