review: physicians formula butter believe it! foundation + concealer

It has been a very long time since I was able to aimlessly wander the aisles of the drugstore. These days, I work from home and avoid unnecessary trips. That means many of the everyday beauty items in my collection need to be replaced and replenished. I was starting to run low on my regular foundation...so my husband did his best and picked up a recommended foundation while he was out. It was very impressive. He chose the right shade and everything! Recently, YouTube beauty guru, Emily Noel reviewed the Physician's Formula and it peaked my interest. A concealer and foundation in one? Yes, please. The concept is fantastic and this drugstore brand has impressed in the past. Ready to find out how it performs? If it is worth adding to your shopping cart? Here is everything you need to know about the Physicians Formula Butter Believe It! Foundation + Concealer. 

First thing is first. What are the product claims? According to the Physicians Formula website, the Butter Believe It! Foundation + Concealer is infused with murumuru butter, capuacu butter, and tucuma butter. It has a creamy texture that leaves a natural, radiant glow, and has a long-wearing weightless formula that provides buildable coverage. So...does it work? The Butter Believe It! Foundation + Concealer comes in a standard glass bottle with a light blue pump on top. In terms of packaging, there is nothing special happening here. But it does what it needs to do. As for the cost, this retails for about $22 CDN, which is certainly on the high end for a drugstore foundation. (For reference, another drugstore favourite, the L'Oreal Pro Glow is about $12 CDN.) Somewhat pricey and simple packaging...but there is still a lot to love. 

When it comes to the foundation itself, a little goes a long way. A very long way! It takes one or two small pumps to completely cover the face. This is significantly less than a lot of other foundations and means the bottle will have a little extra longevity. (That makes me feel slightly better about the higher price point.) This is a medium to full coverage foundation that can be built up as desired. It does a really good job coverage wise, and has a lovely finish. It leaves my skin looking fabulous and is definitely long-wearing. However, there are a few things to consider. First of all, if you are like me and have dry skin, be sure to exfoliate and moisturize beforehand. Since this is a fuller coverage foundation (thanks to the foundation and concealer in one concept)…skin preparation is an absolute must. Additionally, the foundation has a scent. If you're familiar with other Physicians Formula products, this won't be much of a surprise. Personally, I think the smell is fabulous. But if you are someone that doesn't like scented products or tends to react to scented makeup, the Butter Believe It! Foundation + Concealer is probably something that you will want to skip. It all comes down to preferences.

All in all, the Physicians Formula Butter Believe It! Foundation + Concealer is a solid drugstore release. It is fuller coverage, requires much less product, and has a long-lasting finish. This has certainly been a welcome addition to my makeup collection. Will I repurchase? Or will I return to the L'Oreal Pro Glow? Well, only time will tell. For now, I am making the most of the latest Physicians Formula item in my makeup collection.
