disney beauty week: mickey and friends truth be bold artistry palette

What is it about Morphe that is makes it so hard to resist? This brand has been around for quite some time, but wasn't always easily accessible in Canada. In more recent years, certain items have started to be sold in Sephora. Typically, there are oversized eyeshadow palettes with a particular theme. That theme might be related to a colour story, finish, or even brand. (For example, one of my all-time favourites, the Morphe x Coca Cola 1971 Unity Collection.) Since I adore themed items and eyeshadow shades...the brand seems to be a good fit for me. Not too long ago, the Mickey and Friends Truth Be Bold Artistry Palette from Morphe was found at Winners of all places for $25 CDN. Disney? Morphe? And a discounted price? It was too good to resist. Here is everything you need to know about this colourful release...

Not only is this Disney themed on the outside (this eyeshadow palette is part of the Mickey and Friends collection) but there are little nods to Disney throughout the palette. Some of the eyeshadows actually have imprints of different characters! I love those little details, because it really ties the theme in nicely and makes the whole experience a little more enjoyable. As for the colour story...there is a lot going on here. These colours are definitely loud and cartoonish. The red makes me think of Mickey and Minnie, the soft purples make me think of Daisy, the blues are definitely Donald inspired, and the orange and green are ideal for Goofy inspired looks. You can definitely see the character inspiration throughout.

The Mickey and Friends Truth Be Bold Artistry Palette has a lot of different finishes as well. There are some really lovely mattes, some shimmers, and glitters. The glitters tend to be a little drier and need a little work to really have enough pigmentation. As a result, I tend to layer them on top of other shadows. The shimmers are really pretty and I especially love the bright blue shimmer. It is so fun and I look forward to creating lots of colourful looks with it! This palette has a lot of matte shades and the formula is really impressive. These are soft and blend well. Plus, the colours are nice and bold. I especially love those pastel shades. I don't know what it is about pastels, but I can never resist them. Which is why one of the recent looks that I created using this palette put the soft pastels to good use. For this Disney makeup look, I started with the shade, Big Bows, which is a soft pastel coral. That was blended through the crease. Then Awe Goody, a bright purple, was applied to most of the lid. It was a little bit of Awe-Dacious, a pastel purple, on the inner portion of the lid for contrast. To add a little something special, some Super Sassy (pink and purple glitter) was applied on top. It was colourful but still really easy to wear.

All in all, this was a fun makeup look inspired by Daisy Duck. I was really happy with the way it turned out and the fact that so many different types of makeup looks can be created using this eyeshadow palette. There are a lot of standout shades. Though this Mickey and Friends Truth Be Bold Artistry Palette looks like a bright summer palette at first glance, there is a little bit for every season. Yes, there are bright summer shades (oranges, reds, and gold), but there are also fall shades (squash, deep purple, forest green), winter shades (icy blues and silvers), and spring shadows (pastels of all kinds). This is colourful, fun, but also really versatile. It is possible to create something warm and wearable, bright and bold, or dark and smokey.

Have you tried anything from Morphe? Are you a Disney fan?
