affirmation card deck review: affirmators!

I love a good affirmation. Several years ago, the work of Louise Hay entered my life, and it radically changed the way that I saw the world. She believed that thoughts had power and that negative thoughts could be changed. All my life, my thoughts had defaulted to the negative. Even if something wonderful happened...it didn't take long for those negative thoughts to creep in and take over once again. Simply understanding that my thoughts could be changed, that my thoughts did not define my worth, and that it was possible to plant seeds of positivity, altered my direction. I began using positive affirmations to shift my mindset. Some days, it worked. Other days, it did nothing at all. But over time, there was subtle movement. Sure, negative and fearful thoughts still popped into my head, but when they did, I could remind myself: it is only a thought and a thought can be changed. Knowing that affirmations are extremely important to me, my friend gifted me a set of affirmation cards for my birthday. Are you ready to take a look at the Affirmators! card deck? Find out what they are like? Here goes...

Everything about this card deck screams: joyful. The front of the box has a rainbow, a unicorn, and a bunny rabbit. Talk about fun! Inside, there are 50 affirmation cards in lots of beautiful colours with totally adorable (and funny) drawings. The instruction card essentially says to shuffle the cards and ask that a beneficial card will be revealed to you. I do this on an intuitive basis. I shuffle the cards for as long as I feel called to and then pick a card intuitively. Usually, whatever is revealed really is something that I needed to hear that day. Though there are lots of affirmation decks out there, this particular deck blends traditional affirmations ("I trust that everything will be okay.") with humor ("It's way more fun to live with trust and confidence than to be a defensive wiener.") That makes the Affirmators! deck suitable for a wide range of users. Those that are familiar with positive affirmations work and those that just need a little chuckle throughout the day.

As you can see, the cards are absolutely adorable. The illustrations are really fun and whimsical and the affirmations are the perfect pick-me-up. When I was taking pictures for this post, I shuffled the deck, and asked that three cards reveal themselves for all of the readers of the creation of beauty is art. The cards were joy, options, and peacefulness.

  • Joy: To enjoy something, I simply need to add joy to it. Joy is like butter - I can put it on anything and it'll make it way better. Today, I will add joy to everything, really slather it on. Today, I am the Orville Redenbacher of joy. And life's popcorn is about to get it.
  • Options: As I open to the abundant possibilities of my life's path, I'm reminded that I always have unlimited options. Life is a buffet, and I allow myself to choose whatever makes me happiest, without limiting thoughts like, "you can't put mac and cheese on your baked potato."
  • Peacefulness: I have a peaceful, tranquil, and untroubled heart. This is where I choose to spend my time. I can bring guests...but any person, thought, or event that brings drama or chaos is not invited. My heart is a special property, and I'm going to keep it that way so we can all keep enjoying it and I can get my security deposit back.

Have you tried any positive affirmations cards? What do you think of the Affirmators! deck?
