five indoor fall activities to add to your to do list

The weather is starting to cool and that means more time will be spent indoors over the next little while. That doesn't mean you need to give up on fun! There are plenty of fall activities that can be done from the comfort of your home. Whether you want to be social, relax and unwind, or add a new hobby to your to do list...there are countless possibilities. Are you ready to make the most of the season? Here are five indoor fall activities you'll want to make time for.

Group Watch a Movie With Friends. The pandemic changed all of our social lives. Despite being double vaccinated, it is still difficult for me to be out in the world and to be in social situations. (I am taking it slow and am using my best judgement.) Sound familiar? Keep social interaction distanced by group watching a movie with friends. Certain streaming services like Disney+ have a group watch option where you can react to certain parts of the movie with emojis. However, you can also chat with your friends over text or use a messaging app. Grab some snacks and hit play on a movie at the same time. It can be a lot of fun and is a wonderful alternative to meeting in person. Safe, cozy, and social!

Spend Time on Seasonal Crafts. The fall season is an ideal time to snuggle up inside. So, why not be creative while you do so? There are lots of fun seasonal crafts to try. Maybe crafting will just be for a little fun and relaxation...or maybe you can start on some homemade Christmas gifts. There are many options! For relaxation, pick up an adult colouring book and some pencil crayons. Or you can always look for a paint by numbers set or even a paint set. Holiday gift ideas include knitting, crochet, needlepoint, or my personal favourite, latch hook. Find something that speaks to you and start creating.

Bake a Fall Themed Dessert. Do you have a sweet tooth? Then this is the perfect opportunity to stay indoors and bake something delicious. Baking can be a lot of fun done on your own or with someone living in your household. Look up different recipes online, put on some music (check YouTube for some fall inspired playlists and instrumental tracks), and start baking. Everything from pumpkin spice muffins to apple pie and leaf shaped sugar cookies is fair game. Have fun deciding what you will bake and really make it an experience. It is time to treat your taste buds with something seasonal and special.

Enjoy an At Home Spa Day. Going to the spa can be pricey...and during the pandemic, you may not feel overly familiar with heading out for a little pampering. That's okay! It can be done from the comfort of your home. Enjoy a little TLC with a face mask, use a nice thick conditioner on your hair, paint your nails in a fabulous fall colour or give yourself a pedicure. There are so many options. Put on some calming music or a comforting TV show (I like baking shows or home decor shows) and just...breathe a little easier. It is so important to treat yourself well. A day of self love can make all the difference this season.

Catch Up on Some Cozy Reads. Is there a book that has been sitting on your shelf for far too long? Aim to set aside some time this fall to read it. Or you can always look for books with a fall setting or theme to really get into the fall mood. (If you like cozy mysteries, there are plenty of seasonal options to enjoy. Everything from Death by Pumpkin Spice to A Killer Maize.) All that matters is that you take a bit of time to catch up on reading. Set the scene by lighting a pumpkin scented candle, listen to audio of a crackling fireplace, and wrap yourself up in a giant cozy blanket. You will be feeling the fall vibes in no time.

Staying indoors doesn't need to be bland or boring. There are so many fun fall activities to try out! Be sure to add one or more of these suggestions to your to do list for a truly unforgettable season.

How will you celebrate the fall season? Will you try any of these indoor activities?

  8. Nice post! Thanks for the recommendations. I absolutely enjoy reading in my room while creating a chill environment with candles and blankets. I'm planning on going to a spa during my Christmas holidays, but I haven't find anyplace I like yet. The idea of baking is great but I must admit that I suck at cooking :(
By the way, could you recommend us some nice films to watch with friends?

    1. Oh, how exciting! A spa over the holidays sounds just wonderful. I hope you find somewhere that you will love! And of course. Some movie suggestions: Sex and the City, Crazy Rich Asians, Booksmart, Pitch Perfect, This Means War, 21 Jump Street....there are so many to consider. I tend to prefer watching either friendship comedies or rom-coms with my friends!
