The first week of the new year is over already. It is hard to believe, but time seems to move faster these days. Though there is no denying the arrival of January, there is a part of me that is still lingering behind in December. The holiday season had some highs and lows...and I am trying to hold onto the highs as much as possible. That is the reason for this holiday highlights posts. It seemed appropriate to share a few seasonal photos, makeup looks, and talk about the more memorable moments.

holiday highlights (musicals, christmas tours, traditions, and more)
The New Years is always exciting...but sometimes, there is a hint of longing for days passed. More specifically, all of those special holiday moments. The lead-in to Christmas is always my favourite part. Calendars are full of dinner plans, family gatherings, holiday-themed events, movie nights, and well, lots of other special occasions. It is hard not to miss all of the magic and wonder. Which is exactly why I wanted to take a little bit of time to look back at some of those holiday memories. This season was just as busy as always. In the best possible way! I was able to see a Christmas musical, take a holiday castle tour, enjoy a day of shopping and traditions with my husband, see movies, decorate, wrap gifts, spend time with friends, and so much more. So without further ado, here are a few of my favourite holiday highlights.

holiday highlights (christmas tours, dinners, decorations, and more)
It always goes by so fast, doesn't it? Though it is hard to believe, we are at the start of a new year and all of those fabulous holiday festivities are a thing of the past. Sigh! This is always a difficult time. The month of December is loaded with event after event after event and then...poof. It is back to reality. To combat some of the post-Christmas blues, I wanted to take a bit of time to look back. These are a few of my personal holiday highlights.

easter highlights (decorations, baked goods, accessories)
Ahh...this time of year is undeniably special. There is something so rejuvenating about the sunnier days, the springtime colours, and of course, the holidays. As I mentioned in my last post, Easter is one of my favourite holidays. This year, it was spent with my loved ones at home...which is my favourite way to celebrate. My husband and I did Easter baskets for one another, then I spent the day with my immediate family, and my husband joined us for a homecooked meal. There were lots of highlights, like watching classic holiday movies together and baking lots of delicious seasonal treats. Ready to take a peek into my Easter holiday? See how it was celebrated? Here are some holiday highlights...

holiday highlights: decorations, food, and more!
It's hard to believe that January is already underway. That a whole new year is underway! My mind is still back in December, focused on twinkle lights, gingerbread cookies, and all of the special moments that the holiday season has to offer. Sometimes, I find it difficult to shift my mindset from Christmas carols and cartoon specials to resolutions and to do lists. Honestly? That is the reason for the upcoming holiday highlights posts. These posts allow me to reminisce and focus on the time of year that I love so very much. To start it all off, it only makes sense to share some of the photographs that I took during the season. Some are decorations that are in my home, others are from my parents place, and there are lots of other baked goods and special moments scattered in there as well. Ready to take a look? Here are some of my holiday highlights from 2022.

holiday wrap up: festive photos and seasonal highlights
Just as quickly as the holiday season arrived...it ended. This is such a bittersweet time of year! On one hand, there is so much to be thankful for. The start of a new year is always a little bit exciting, after all. On the other hand, it is hard to say goodbye to all of the Christmas festivities. There are no more advent calendars to open each morning and there are no more Christmas songs on the radio. It leaves me wishing that I could redo the month of December and experience all of the magic one more time. I suppose that is the reason for all of the holiday wrap up posts that will be featured on the creation of beauty is art. over the next little while. This is truly the perfect opportunity to look back on all of those wonderful seasonal moments. Today, I will be sharing some festive photos and seasonal highlights. Here is hoping my holiday highlights remind you of your own.

holiday highlights: beauty creations holiday wishes nude x set
Though the calendar says it is January...my heart is still somewhere in December. At the moment, my focus is on New Years Resolutions and re-establishing my regular routine, but my days are still full of classic Christmas songs and holiday specials. Decorations are still in my home. The tree is still lit. I suppose one of these days, I will have to tuck it all away for another year, but I am trying to hold onto the magic of the season for just a little while longer. That is probably the reason for all of the holiday highlights posts this week on the creation of beauty is art. There will be some reviews shared, including some advent calendar reviews and a look at some holiday themed makeup items. Today, the spotlight is on the Holiday Wishes Nude X Set from Beauty Creations. This was found at Marshalls for $9.99 CDN shortly after finding the Oh Deer Christmas Shadow and Face Palette from the brand. It is always difficult when the holiday season ends. All of the twinkling lights seem to dim as the reality of day to day life takes over once more. Instead of putting off various adult responsibilities, it is time to tackle that neglected to-do list and get back on track. Sigh. As a way of extending some of the seasonal wonder, this week is dedicated to holiday highlights posts. These often focus on Christmas themed products, decorations, makeup looks, and so on. To start this week of holiday highlights, it is time to take a look inside the Little X-Mas Wonder Advent Calendar from essence. Keep reading for a reveal and some mini reviews.

holiday highlights: winter wonderland hand cream set
Opening stockings on Christmas morning is always so thrilling. I love all of the fun little treats tucked away inside. Truth be told, the small things seem to excite me more than anything else. I remember when I was a kid, my brother and I would wake up early on Christmas morning and carefully pour over our stockings before showing off each and every item. This year, my husband and I decided to do stockings for each other and then purchase one record each to add to our collection. It made sense to cut back a bit given that we have all that we need. Everything else is just a bonus! Inside my stocking this year were all sorts of fun extras, like a cranberry scented holiday candle, Santa shaped chocolates, and lots of Turtles chocolates. Also inside? An adorable holiday themed hand cream set. The Winter Wonderland set came with three different scents.

This is always a strange time of year. All of the Christmas decorations are still up in my home (though those will be coming down shortly) and there are all of these hopes, dreams, and resolutions to focus on for the year ahead. I feel a little out of sorts, with one foot back in 2023 and one foot firmly in 2024. So, while I am in this in-between, it only makes sense to focus on a few holiday highlights. These posts are all about seasonal items that were in heavy rotation during the last month or so. One example? The Popcorn Balls Bite-Sized Eyeshadow Palette from Too Faced. review: too faced let it snow globes three-piece eyeshadow palette
How are you all settling into January so far? It's hard to believe that December is behind us and a new year has arrived. 2023 was not my favourite year ever, so I am currently holding on to hope that 2024 will be much improved. One way to kickstart a shiny new year? Talking about makeup, of course. I mentioned the Let It Snow Globes Three-Piece Eyeshadow Palette Gift Set in a revisited review last month...and now it is finally time to share some thoughts and some seasonal makeup looks. The Let It Snow Globes set has been in my makeup collection for the last few months, but I wanted to make sure there was familiarity with all three palettes before I wrote down my thoughts for a post here on the creation of beauty is art. holiday wrap up: harry potter advent calendar (review + reveal)
Any Harry Potter fans out there? I remember reading the first Harry Potter book when I was in elementary school. And then the second. They were compelling and immediately stood out from other books at the school library. The characters were interesting and there was this whole other world to imagine and explore. Several years later, the movies started to come out and the Harry Potter mania reached another level. Over the years, I have attended midnight movie screenings and book release parties. I have stayed up late reading page after page. I have purchased Harry Potter memorabilia, have attended Harry Potter themed events and theme parks....and that is only the tip of the iceberg. It really is such an important part of my life. I am always grateful for all of the magic and joy that the series has created. Which is why I was so thrilled when my husband surprised me with a 25 day Harry Potter Holiday Magic Official Advent Calendar.

seasonal book recommendations + holiday favourites video
Books are such an important part of my life. So is Christmas. Put the two together? I am in my glory. There is nothing that I love more at this time of year than a Christmas themed novel. I love reading about different holiday experiences and experiencing an extra dose of seasonal magic. Normally, I try to read (or re-read) at least a handful of Christmas themed books during the month of December. It just makes everything happier! There are some Christmas themed books that stand out more than others and some that I reach for time and time again. This year? I wanted to share some seasonal book recommendations.

review: too faced christmas dreams holiday set
The holiday season makes me smile for an awful lot of reasons. Like spending time with family, drinking cups of hot chocolate, and looking at all of the beautiful decorations. Another reason it is so wonderful? All of the seasonal makeup releases, of course! Each and every year, beauty brands release limited edition items inspired by the holidays. In the past, I have tried out quite a few....most notably from Too Faced. Not only are they one of my favourite high end brands in general, their seasonal releases are always so much fun. (You can check out reviews from holidays passed here and here.) This year, I added the Christmas Dreams set to my makeup collection. Ready to take a peek inside? Here are all the details you need to know before you add it to your wish list.
