holiday highlights: beauty creations holiday wishes nude x set

Though the calendar says it is January...my heart is still somewhere in December. At the moment, my focus is on New Years Resolutions and re-establishing my regular routine, but my days are still full of classic Christmas songs and holiday specials. Decorations are still in my home. The tree is still lit. I suppose one of these days, I will have to tuck it all away for another year, but I am trying to hold onto the magic of the season for just a little while longer. That is probably the reason for all of the holiday highlights posts this week on the creation of beauty is art. There will be some reviews shared, including some advent calendar reviews and a look at some holiday themed makeup items. Today, the spotlight is on the Holiday Wishes Nude X Set from Beauty Creations. This was found at Marshalls for $9.99 CDN shortly after finding the Oh Deer Christmas Shadow and Face Palette from the brand. Since I had such a positive experience with that holiday themed release, the decision was quickly made to add the Holiday Wishes Nude X Set to my collection. It is time to take a look inside and find out how it performed...

The Holiday Wishes Nude X Set from Beauty Creations came in cute holiday packaging that was similar to the Oh Deer set. There were lots pinks and greens with adorable cartoon deer on the front. However, the actual products inside the set are not holiday themed. (This is either a plus or a minus, depending on your own personal preferences. Though it would've been nice for each piece to be as themed as the outer packaging, it doesn't necessarily bother me that it was normal.) Included in the set was the Nude Desire Eyeshadow Palette, My Honey Lipstick, and XXX Lip Liner. Not a bad amount of product for $9.99 CDN.

Starting with the Nude Desire Eyeshadow Palette, this comes in plastic packaging. It feels fairly sturdy and has a nice frosted glass appearance. There is a good size mirror inside and nine eyeshadows. This is a nude makeup set, so the colours are warm and wearable neutrals. There are lots of matte shades but also some really lovely shimmers. These shadows are fairly pigmented, though the quality is slightly less impressive than the Oh Deer release. All in all, the mattes perform well and the shimmers look nice layered over them. The standout shades are Keeping Secrets (warm shimmer), Wild (burnt umber), and Trouble (chocolate brown). There is a lot of variety here in terms of the colours and finishes, so the palette can be used for daytime looks or more dramatic makeup looks for evening. This is a useful little neutral palette to have on hand.

Now for the lip products. The XXX Lip Liner comes in a warm chocolate brown. Since I love a brown lipstick look...this checked off the boxes for me. It can be worn alone or paired with another lip product. That being said, it doesn't necessarily pair the best with the lipstick that was included in this set. My Honey is an unusual brown colour that certainly stands out from others in my collection. I wouldn't necessarily say it is the most flattering colour on me, but I like to wear it anyway. It is kind of fun. I also really like the lipstick packaging, because it has the same kind of faux frosted glass look that the eyeshadow palette had.

Here are some of the products in action! Though the Nude Desire Eyeshadow Palette isn't groundbreaking, it is a nice everyday kind of release that is suitable for a lot of different situations. The lip liner is a real winner for me and the lipstick is a little bit different. The packaging is simple, but aesthetically pleasing, and the overall result is positive. This little holiday set was ultra affordable and worked well. Though the Oh Deer Christmas Shadow and Face Palette was better than this Holiday Wishes Nude X Set, there is still a lot to enjoy about the latter. These items will continue to be put to use this season and beyond.

What do you think of this seasonal makeup set? Have you tried anything from Beauty Creations?

  1. This is a lovely post that perfectly captures the lingering holiday spirit, even as we move into January. The Holiday Wishes Nude X Set from Beauty Creations seems like a great budget-friendly find, especially with the variety of warm neutrals in the palette and the inclusion of the lip products. I appreciate the honest review of the product's quality, especially the comparison with the Oh Deer release. The chocolate brown lip liner sounds like a versatile addition to any collection, though I can understand how the My Honey lipstick may not be the most universally flattering. Overall, a great pick for those who enjoy a neutral makeup look with a touch of holiday magic!
