shop my stash: violet voss (the rainbow eye shadow palette)

There are certain benefits to staying indoors all the time. A few examples? Staying safe, wearing sweatpants, and making the most of my existing makeup collection. Though there will always be something exciting about new beauty items….being home more often has made it much easier to appreciate everything that I already have. And much easier to put those items to good use! Since the start of the pandemic, I have used up lots of different mascara samples, brow pencils, foundations, eyeliner pens, and powders. I have also reached for a wide array of eyeshadow palettes that may not have been in my regular rotation. It is certainly a time to experiment and break away from those everyday items.

Some eyeshadow palettes I reach for more than others. That doesn't necessarily speak to the quality...but something like The Rainbow Eye Shadow Palette by Violet Voss isn't exactly something that I think about for an average everyday kind of makeup look. The quality is incredible and the pigmentation level is intense, but the colours are bright and bold. Since I am at home these days, it seemed like a wonderful excuse to play with colour and do something a little different than the norm. So, I have been putting this rainbow inspired eyeshadow palette to use. Some days, it is a combination of Flamingo (pink), Violet (purple), and Pearl (shimmery white). More recently? It was a blue and green inspired makeup look. Take a look....

To create this particular makeup look with the Violet Voss eyeshadow palette, the shade Peach was blended through the crease. This is a warm shade that can balance out a lot of those ultra bright eyeshadow shades. Then it was the shade Fiji (cool blue) all over the eyelid with Seafoam (seafoam green) added to the outer third and blended through the crease. To add a bit of depth, a bit of Eclipse (black) to the outer corner and along the lower lash line. This was a really fun to way to combine colourful eyeshadow shades that I love but still make the overall makeup look really warm and wearable. As for the rest of the makeup look? It was ultra simple. A small amount of a lightweight foundation (the L'Oreal Pro Glow is great for light to medium coverage), a bit of NYX eyeliner, and a mascara sample from Smashbox. On the cheeks was the Too Faced Gingerbread Tan Bronzer and a bit of lip balm to finish it all off. It was a nice combination of colourful and easy to wear.

It has been a lot of fun to shop my stash and make use of some of the makeup items in my collection. This Violet Voss eyeshadow palette continues to impress me thanks to the incredible formula and exciting shades.

Have you tried anything from Violet Voss? Are you shopping your makeup stash lately?
