perfume review: christian siriano (silhouette in bloom)

Perfume never ceases to amaze. The bottles, the scents, the luxury....bliss! When I was very young, I remember my mom let me choose a perfume bottle from the dollar store. I can still see that bottle in my mind. I can feel it in my hands. It was an old-fashioned style that was made from black porcelain. There were grooves in that porcelain bottle that I used to trace endlessly with my fingertips. On the side was a small black puff that you squeezed to release the scent. On the front of the bottle was a silhouette of a woman with blonde hair and a pearl necklace. Though I can't remember what the perfume inside actually smelled like....I will never forget how that bottle of perfume made me feel. I had never been more beautiful, sophisticated, or grown up. I felt like a million bucks. Though it may sound silly, that moment cemented my love of fragrances. It isn't just a nice smelling scent or a fun little add on. Every time I reach for a perfume bottle, it honours that beloved childhood memory. 

There is no doubt about it. Perfume is an important part of my life! It has made me feel fabulous for many decades now. Most recently, my mom gifted me the Christian Siriano Silhouette in Bloom perfume (along with some other Christian Siriano items). Now, Christian Siriano has long been one of my favourite designers. In fact, I first posted about him on the creation of beauty is art. way back in 2012 (check out that first post here) and again in 2014 (which you can read here) and well...it goes on and on. Christian Siriano has such an incredible eye when it comes to fashion and design. So it should come as no surprise that the bottle for Silhouette in Bloom is an absolute showstopper. I love that silhouette inspired shape. It reminds me of an over the top ballgown that flares out at the bottom. There is a beautiful ombre effect as well. It is a rich pink at the bottom of the bottle and it fades into that clear bottle topper. And speaking of the bottle topper! It comes in a flower shape and has CS printed on top in raised lettering. The bottle for Silhouette in Bloom is dramatic in all the right ways. 

How does it smell? Silhouette in Bloom certainly lives up to its name and has a floral woody scent. It blends pear leaves with jasmine, rose, and patchouli. Among other things! This is what I would describe as a sharp floral. It is sophisticated and musky but also has an unmistakable brightness to it. Silhouette in Bloom is the kind of fragrance that can take you from day to night with ease. It is neither a daytime or evening scent. It is suitable for both. Whenever I need a little pick me up or want to put my best foot forward, this is the ideal perfume choice. I love the design and colour of the bottle and I absolutely adore the scent.
