review: shaaanxo the remix (bh cosmetics eyeshadow palette)

Not long ago, I found myself scouring the BH Cosmetics website. A friend of mine had recommended their Zodiac Love Signs palette and I was in the midst of a serious mental debate. Deciding to be a responsible adult, I chose not to place the order. Why? Partly because there is so much eyeshadow in my makeup collection....and partly because they didn't have Shaaanxo The Remix palette in stock. I had meant to get it ages ago so it didn't make sense to place an order if they didn't have exactly what I wanted. Less than a week later, I was out and about doing some shopping for Easter (I make Easter baskets for some of my loved ones) when bam! There it was. Shaaanxo The Remix 18 Color Shadow Palette was at my local Winners for a mere eight dollars. To say I was thrilled would be a massive understatement. It was an exhilarating beauty find. So...how does the palette perform? And how does it compare to the original Shaaanxo palette? Here is everything you need to know.

review: carli bybel x anastasia beverly hills eyeshadow palette

Anastasia Beverly Hills has had an awful lot of hits and the occasional misstep. For the most part, this high end brand is known for richly pigmented eyeshadow shades and warm, wearable colours. (Not to mention their best-selling brow products.) In the past, I have tried a handful of their eyeshadow palettes, and more recently, the Carli Bybel eyeshadow palette. This limited edition set is cruelty free, gluten free, and has fourteen shades to work with. How do they perform? Is this palette a must have? Keep reading to find out all the beauty-related details.

2 looks 1 palette: jackie aina x abh eyeshadow palette

Everyone has a palette that got away. You know, that limited edition release that you decided not to purchase, only to hear about endlessly from other makeup lovers. For me...that palette was the Jackie Aina x Anastasia Beverly Hills Eyeshadow Palette. At the time that it was released, there was another palette that interested me more, so that was the one that was added to my collection. In the weeks and months that followed, the Jackie Aina x ABH palette was often mentioned as a must-have. The reasons? The intense pigmentation, the unique colour story, and the overall performance. I was intrigued, but it was too late, and I knew it had become the palette that got away. Until recently, that is. During a visit to Winners a few months back, the palette was sitting there in all its glory, protected in a clear plastic case. Without hesitation, that palette was taken to the checkout line. Finally! I could find out whether the high-end eyeshadow palette was worthy of the hype. Keep reading for a mini review and two different makeup looks created with the collaboration eyeshadow palette.

trying out the subculture palette (anastasia beverly hills)

Talk about controversial. When the Subculture eyeshadow palette originally launched, reviews were mixed. Some people had no issues whatsoever and others - who happened to be huge beauty YouTubers - found the palette was downright unusable. Anastasia Beverly Hills explained this as an inconsistency in the batches during production. (You can read more about that and the rest of the controversy here.) Not long ago, I stumbled upon this very palette at Marshalls. Given all of the hoopla around it during the launch, I thought, what the heck. It was time for me to find out what the Subculture palette was really like. Today's post will include swatches, a full review, and a makeup look created with these high end eyeshadows.

review: paris hilton cosmetics (soft glam eyeshadow palette)

I still remember the first eyeshadow palette in my collection. My sister had given me a massive Sephora brand palette for Christmas....and it revolutionized my makeup life. Before then, it had been all quads, trios, and singles. An entire palette full of eyeshadow options shook my makeup loving self to the core. My creativity went into overdrive. There were more colour combinations than I ever imagined possible. Right before my eyes. Since that day, palettes have always been a beauty favourite of mine. I love the endless possibilities!

Over the last few years, I've been having fun trying out a variety of items from Paris Hilton Cosmetics. From single eyeshadows to highlights and everything in between. (You can check out some of those reviews here and here.) Despite all of the Paris Hilton products I've tried, there was always something missing: an eyeshadow palette. Then, finally there is was. The Soft Glam Palette. Here is everything you need to know about this 18 pan eyeshadow set.

review: too faced let it snow globes three-piece eyeshadow palette

How are you all settling into January so far? It's hard to believe that December is behind us and a new year has arrived. 2023 was not my favourite year ever, so I am currently holding on to hope that 2024 will be much improved. One way to kickstart a shiny new year? Talking about makeup, of course. I mentioned the Let It Snow Globes Three-Piece Eyeshadow Palette Gift Set in a revisited review last month...and now it is finally time to share some thoughts and some seasonal makeup looks. The Let It Snow Globes set has been in my makeup collection for the last few months, but I wanted to make sure there was familiarity with all three palettes before I wrote down my thoughts for a post here on the creation of beauty is art. Ready to take a look at these holiday themed eyeshadows? Find out how each Too Faced palette performed? Keep reading for all of the details.

review: strawberry feels palette (jaclyn cosmetics)

When it comes to makeup purchases, more of my shopping takes place at Winners rather than Sephora these days. With the costs of everything getting higher and higher, it just makes sense. Plus, many Sephora brands can be found at Winners...along with brands that aren't available in other Canadian stores. Take Jaclyn Cosmetics as an example. Sure, I could order the products online and pay a ton extra for shipping and in the exchange rate, but that is not my preference. Finding items from the brand at Winners (discounted, no less) is so much better. That is exactly what happened recently. There were actually a handful of Jaclyn Cosmetics items that came home with me, but the first that will be reviewed here on the creation of beauty is art. is the Strawberry Feels Palette. How perfect for the spring and summer season! The strawberry themed palette was released last summer and is still available on the Jaclyn Cosmetics website for $34 USD. Lucky for me, this palette cost just $16.99 CDN at Winners. Ready to see what colours are inside the palette? Find out how it performs? Keep reading...

Here is everything you need to know about the Too Faced Pretty Mess eyeshadow palette.

one/size visionary eyeshadow palette (review + swatches)

Honestly? I wasn't sure about One/Size. At first, it was exciting to hear that Patrick Starrr had started his own makeup line. After all, I've been watching his channel for quite a while and have one of his collections with Mac in my makeup collection. (Take a peek at that review and makeup look here.) Part of me really wanted to support the brand. The other part of me wasn't totally sure about the first round of releases. One/Size initially introduced makeup wipes and a makeup removing spray. Not exactly thrilling. Shortly after, they announced additional products, like eyeliners and liquid eyeshadows. Though those items looked nice enough.... I still wasn't sold. Then the eyeshadow palette launched. I saw photos of it online and was a little underwhelmed. A neutral palette with a pop of blue. Eh! It wasn't until Patrick Starrr posted a YouTube video with live swatches from the Visionary Eyeshadow Palette that I began to change my mind. The colours appeared to be a little more unique when swatched. There was something about it that made me wonder. Could this be a different take on a neutrals palette? Would it be a noteworthy addition to my day-to-day routine? Get ready to find out. Here is everything you need to know about the One/Size Visionary Eyeshadow Palette.

review: urban decay (naked ultraviolet eyeshadow palette)

"Have you seen the new Urban Decay palette?" That was the text my friend sent me a few months back. Though I am typically pretty up-to-date with most of new beauty releases, the Urban Decay Naked Ultraviolet Eyeshadow Palette seemed to have eluded me. Luckily, my friend sent me screenshots of the email she had received from the brand. And there it was. The latest Naked palette in all its glory. The moment I laid eyes on it, I was in awe. The colours looked absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately, another eyeshadow palette wasn't exactly on my to-buy list. As I have mentioned on here in the last little while, my goal is to use more of what I own instead of always rushing after the latest releases. I decided to live vicariously through my friend, since she was planning to purchase it for herself. Turns out? I wouldn't have to. My mom actually ordered me the palette as an anniversary present. It was such a wonderful surprise. One I have really been appreciating lately. So...if you've been curious about the latest release from Urban Decay, look no further. Here are swatches, a full review of the palette and double-ended brush, and a makeup look using the Urban Decay Naked Ultraviolet eyeshadow palette.

current favourite neutral eyeshadow palettes

Though there are lots of colourful eyeshadow palettes in my collection...neutrals still have a special place in my heart. Sometimes, a glamorous neutral eye look is all you need to feel like a million bucks. Though what is neutral to one person might not be as neutral to another, I tend to think of neutral eyeshadow palettes as palettes that focus on browns, soft pinks, golds, and other easy to wear colours. Ready to take a peek at some of my current favourite neutral eyeshadow palettes? Some of them are newer and some are not as new, but they are all making my life feel a little more beautiful lately.

jaclyn hill + morphe (bling boss palette: review + look)

Jaclyn Hill is a big name in the beauty community. With 5.7 million YouTube subscribers and over 6 million followers on Instagram....there is no denying her impressive stats. In addition to her regular content, Jaclyn also made a name for herself with successful makeup collaborations. There were several with Becca (in fact, I reviewed the Becca + Jaclyn Hill Face Palette on my YouTube channel a couple of years ago) and eventually, Morphe. The latter was extremely successful. The Jaclyn Hill palette has been reviewed, purchased, and duped a million times over. Eventually, that led to another set of palette releases between Jaclyn and Morphe. Though there were four palettes in total, it was Bling Boss that really stood out to me. Here is everything you need to know about the palette.

review: too faced teddy bare eyeshadow palette

Neutral eyeshadow palettes are nothing new. Most beauty lovers have at least one or two floating around their makeup collection. Personally? I have several. The most recent one is probably the One/Size Visionary Eyeshadow Palette. (You can take a closer look at that neutral palette here.) I fell in love with the unique spin on easy-to-wear neutrals. With lots of beloved everyday palettes already in my collection, another neutral palette was not exactly on my radar. Until the Teddy Bare - Bare It All Eyeshadow Palette from Too Faced was released. The theme was undeniably adorable. The shades looked warm and wearable. It was too hard to resist. Here is everything you need to know about this teddy bear themed eyeshadow palette.

revisited review: revolution snow globe snowflake palette

Time for something a little bit different....a revisited review. Honestly? Reviewing makeup is one of my favourite things to do. I always love testing out different products and seeing how they perform. But sometimes, it is nice to take a step back, and re-examine what is already in my makeup collection. Late last year, the I Heart Revolution Snow Globe Snowflake Palette entered my life. It was immediately attractive because of the packaging and the fabulous winter theme. At the time, I had mixed feelings on the palette, but have since found myself reaching for it over and over again despite those mixed feelings. Hence the need for a revisited review. It is time to take another look at this affordable eyeshadow palette.

pros and cons: smoke out eyeshadow palette from hard candy

It has been a while. Though Hard Candy is known for having a constant stream of new releases...things seem to have slowed down recently. In fact, apart from a couple of holiday releases, it has been radio silent on the Hard Candy front. At least in all of the places I've shopped. Then suddenly, there it was. A new palette. One full of green and glitter. Right off the bat, there was intrigue. Partly because it is difficult for me to talk away from a good palette, and partly because a friend of mine had spoken highly of the Hard Candy Look Pro! palettes in recent months. After work on a grey, gloomy day, I added the Hard Candy Look Pro! Eyeshadow Palette in Smoke Out to my shopping cart. The thought of all those glittering greens instantly perked up my mood. Keep reading to find out whether this new release is worth considering.

avani gregg x morphe (for the bebs artistry palette)

Time for a little confession: I do not know half of the TikTok stars, influencers, YouTubers, or anyone else these days. And honestly? I kind of like it that way. At this point, there are certain content creators that I like to watch...and I'm not that into discovering new ones. Maybe I am just old and set in my ways. Or maybe I just like the familiarity. Whatever the reason, it explains why my first time hearing about Avani Gregg was when my local winners had the Morphe x Avani Gregg For the Bebs Artistry Palette on sale. Instead of seeing an eyeshadow palette from a popular TikTok star, my focus was on the bright and colourful offerings inside. And wow, were there a lot of bold colours inside. Lots and lots! Ready to take a look? Find out how this palette performed? Here is everything you need to know about the Morphe x Avani Gregg For the Bebs Artistry Palette.

review: huda beauty mercury retrograde eyeshadow palette

Sephora always has a massive selection of products to choose from. There are rows upon rows of items from prestigious high-end brands. Sometimes, all that choice can be overwhelming! Especially if you aren't looking for anything in particular. Other times, your eyes zero in on one item and only one item - and there is no doubt which product will be added to your basket. The latter best describes my reaction to the Mercury Retrograde eyeshadow palette from Huda Beauty. From the theme to the bold palette design to the alluring selection of shades...this was a no brainer. How does the palette perform? Was it worthy of that love-at-first-sight moment? Keep reading for a first impressions YouTube video along with a full follow up review and a finished makeup look using the palette.

Are you ready? It is time for part two of my blog posts dedicated to emilynoel83 also known as Beauty Broadcast. This eyeshadow palette is loaded with a whopping twenty four shades that come in a variety of colours and finishes. Is it as good as The Needs palette? Is it worth the money? Here is everything you need to know...

alyssa edwards eyeshadow palette (review + makeup looks)

"Back rolls?!" That was the moment. The moment my obsession with Alyssa Edwards skyrocketed to a whole other level of fandom. In case you aren't a fan of RuPaul's Drag Race (and haven't yet binged watched Dancing Queens on Netflix), Alyssa Edwards is a charismatic performer. She is known for her over the top pageant drag style as well as her skills as a dancer/teacher. More recently, she has become known for her Anastasia Beverly Hills collaboration. This high end brand teamed up with Alyssa (real name Justin Johnson) to release a colourful eyeshadow palette. Complete with bright pink packaging! Want to know if this palette is an essential? If it is worth the price tag? Here is everything you need to know about the limited edition Alyssa Edwards palette.
