Summer is officially here! It is hard to believe, actually. Somehow, it seems like only a few weeks ago I was welcoming in the start of the spring season. Yet here we are...with sunshine and shorts weather. There is something undeniably exciting about summer. It used to be my favourite time of year as a kid, because it meant no school and lots of fun activities. As an adult, there are other seasons that I prefer, but I think summer will always hold a special place in my heart. That is why this week on the creation of beauty is art. is a theme week. It will be dedicated to a couple of summer themed beauty items and my very first summer getaway. Ready for the first summer week post? It is all about the Beach Bum Eyeshadow Palette.
Talk about a bold and summery eyeshadow palette. There is an awful lot to love here! Before I dive into all of the details, let me just say: I definitely got a good deal on this eyeshadow palette. Clearly, my favourite place to shop these days is Winners (I love a bargain and I also don't get out shopping like I used to)...and I found this Beach Bum Eyeshadow Palette from Kara Beauty on a clearance end for a mere $3. It was extra discounted, because there was a small chunk missing from one of the shadows on the bottom left corner. The palette itself was completely sealed and sanitary, so the small missing piece was a non-issue for me. After all, it was only $3 for nine different eyeshadow shades. The palette is being sold for $16 elsewhere, so it really was a good amount of money saved for such a fun, colourful, and summer inspired eyeshadow palette.
Now for all of the fun stuff. Everything about this palette just screams summer to me. First of all, the design on the front of the Beach Bum Eyeshadow Palette. There are sunglasses, pineapples, shells, flowers, beach umbrellas, and bicycles. Not only is the colour scheme fabulous, but the cute summery design just adds to the fabulousness. I love a good theme and luckily, this palette doesn't just look summer on the outside. It also looks summery on the inside and has summer themed shadow names. Some examples of those eyeshadow names? Coconut Oil, Tan Lines, and Bikini Top, to name a few. Everything is really well themed and clearly thought out. The attention to detail is important, because it makes the overall experience a positive one.
As for the quality, this was shockingly impressive. I've never tried anything from Kara Beauty before, so I didn't exactly have expectations about how these shadows would perform. However, these performed really well and had excellent colour payoff. The shimmer shades are especially wonderful. I love their creamy texture and how beautiful they look on the lid. The mattes are really vibrant as well. All in all, the colour story is there, the theme is on point, and the quality is impressive.
I used the Beach Bum eyeshadow palette recently for a laid back at-home makeup look. Something wonderful about this summer product? It is possible to go bold and bright or do something a little more subtle for everyday. The look below made good use of the orange and copper colours, though I do plan to get a little more adventurous with those brighter colours in future. Stay tuned for that! In the meantime, be sure to let me know what you think about this casual but colourful look.
Have you tried this summer themed eyeshadow palette? What are your favourite seasonal products?

DeleteOh my gosh! I can't believe you got this for $3, Shannon! What a score! Look at all those fun colours....just gorgeous:) I love how you can create looks that are so wearable (like the one who had on the picture) but also fun ones. Would love to have something like that turquoise in the middle:D Unfortunately, the Winners I just went to didn't have much in the cosmetics section...will try other branches for sure:)
ReplyDeleteIt was definitely a great find! I love a bargain, ha! Thank you! Oh, that's too bad that your Winners didn't have much. You never really know...sometimes there is a ton to choose from and other times, nothing at all!
