Every once and a while, a product comes along that makes you wonder. The Kaja Wink Stamp Wing Eyeliner Stamp and Eyeliner Pen set is certainly something that made me wonder. It claimed to deliver a perfect wing in seconds. What could be better than that? As someone who has always struggled with winged liner (despite my obsession with it) this sounded like a total dream come true. Finally, my winged liner would match. I don't know why, but liner on my left eye is always a breeze and liner on my right eye is always a nightmare. I can never seem to get the right to match the left. It feels like such a struggle, no matter how many times I do my makeup. And I do my makeup almost every single day! Despite that, winged liner is always the hardest part for me. The idea of a stamp that would simplify the application process really interested me. So....does it work??
The set comes with an instruction card, the double ended winged eyeliner stamp, and a liquid eyeliner pen. The instructions make application sound like a total breeze. It says to stamp, line, and repeat! Easy enough, right? Well...not quite. It is a little more complicated than the instructions would lead you to believe. Using the actual product isn't hard but making sure the liner looks good is a whole different story. The double ended winged eyeliner stamp has a stamp for the right and left eye. It essentially looks like a marker in the shape of a very small wing. Cute and to the point! I love that. However, when it comes to the actual application part, it can be difficult to line up the stamp in exactly the right spot. Maybe it is just me...but so much time was spent trying to line up the pen to exactly the right spot and then trying to do the same thing on the other side. I didn't feel like it simplified the liner process in the way that I hoped. Instead of spending time trying to get my freehand wings to match, I was spending time trying to get the stamps to match. It isn't a useless product but it definitely takes time.
As for the eyeliner pen, this is used to line the rest of the eye and connect that line to the wing. I have to say...I absolutely adore the eyeliner pen. The point is very sharp and fine. This allows you to be ultra precise and create a smaller winged liner look, if desired. The pen itself is also really sturdy, which makes application a whole lot easier. Not only is this a rich matte black colour, it lasts all day long without budging. While the stamp leaves a little to be desired, the actual eyeliner quality is impressive. That is something that I would consider purchasing individually in future. Want to see how my recent attempt turned out? Below is an example of the Kaja Wink Stamp in use. This was my third or fourth attempt and it did get a bit easier, but my wings still did not match the way I hoped they would. Ahh, well. They say practice makes perfect.
So...does it work?? Sort of. The Kaja Wink Stamp is a wonderful idea and the set is thoughtfully put together. There are clear instructions and the products themselves are impressive in terms of the overall quality. However, the actual stamp still requires a little trial and error. It can be tricky to make sure the liner matches, so a little patience and practice is involved.
Have you tried the Kaja Wink Stamp? Did you find it easy or difficult to use?
