review: rimmel insa-flawless

At this point, it feels like I have tried just about every primer and perfecting cream there is to try. There are ones I like, ones I don't like, and ones that fall in the middle. After a certain point, new offerings fail to interest me. Which is why I was surprised to find myself gravitating towards the new Rimmel London Insta Flawless Perfecting Radiant Skin Tint. Right off the bat, it seemed like a newer version of the Maybelline BB Cream (that I used to wear as a base underneath my foundation for a fuller coverage look). Would this be different? Better? Worse? For whatever reason....I had to find out.

It comes in a simple tube with a gold design and bright pink lettering. There are two shades to choose from: Light/Medium and Medium/Dark, depending on your skin colour. I chose the lightest shade and at first thought it would be a bit dark. However, because this sheers out so much on the skin, it didn't really matter what colour it was! So if you are going into this looking for a product that provides coverage, go elsewhere. This gives off the sheerest amount of coverage possible for a primer. It really isn't going to mask or camouflage any redness or skin imperfections.

That doesn't mean I am not a fan of the primer, however. While it lacks coverage and does not perfect as it claims to....this does follow through with the promise of radiance. This reminds me of a much cheaper version of the Laura Mercier Radiance Primer (which is my favourite). It gives the skin a really pretty glow. Worn alone, the skin looks dewy and healthy. Worn under makeup, the skin looks more natural. As someone with dry skin....this is a great everyday product. However, if you fall on the oily side, this is unlikely to work well for your skin care needs. All of that glow might make your skin look oilier than it really is.

Overall, I am a fan of this product. Since I tend to save my Laura Mercier primer for special occasions (thanks to the hefty price tag), this is a wonderful alternative for daily wear. For less than ten dollars, it adds a really fresh and pretty glow to the skin. That makes it ideal for anyone with dry to normal skin looking to combat a dull complexion.

Have you tried the Rimmel Insta Flawless? What did you think of it?
