too faced pretty rich eyeshadow palette (video + makeup look)

Makeup is always exciting. Discounted makeup? Even better. It was several months ago now...but a while back, a very brief visit to Winners took place. (This is essentially a discount store, similar to something like Marshalls or TJ Maxx.) During that time, there was some holiday shopping for loved ones...and a little for myself. It wasn't my fault! I stumbled upon a Too Faced palette for a mere $20. And well, Too Faced is my favourite high-end makeup brand. The Pretty Rich palette caught my eye because of the price, the brand, and the lovely pink packaging. It wasn't a release that I remembered seeing at Sephora, so I must've missed it at the time. Thanks to this mini shopping session, I was able to check out the Pretty Rich Diamond Light Eyeshadow Palette for myself. Here is everything you need to know about this Too Faced eyeshadow palette.

The Pretty Rich Eyeshadow Palette is certainly well-themed. It comes in a jewel shaped case with a soft touch case, a magnetic closure, and a rounded mirror inside. Then the eyeshadow shades themselves have luxurious names, like Diamonds 4 Breakfast, Filthy Rich, Princess Cut, Don't Carat All, Silver Spoon, and Diamond Life. Everything about the Too Faced release screams: opulence. The packaging is lovely and the shade names make me smile.

This palette contains 16 eyeshadows in total. There are four diamond shaped glitter shades as well as a combination of mattes and shimmers. As you can see from the photo above, there are a lot of really warm and wearable shades that are great for everyday use. Then there are extra pops of colour with that blue shade and all of those striking glitter shades. The pigmentation level and texture varies from shade to shade, but overall, the quality is impressive. There are some colours that speak to me more than others though...like Silver Spoon (second shade on the bottom row) and Clutch Your Pearls (first shade on the second row). They are often incorporated into my day-to-day looks.

Something to keep in mind? Those glitter shades need a little extra help. On the back of the palette, it says: "Prime lids with Too Faced Glitter Glue. For best results, use your finger when applying the pressed-gel glitter formula." Yes, those glitter shades certainly need something to adhere to! Otherwise they will end up falling all over the face. That being said, they are really beautiful and add a lot of glitz to a makeup look. Honestly? This is the first time I've seen a brand admit that a glitter shadow requires a glitter glue to adhere properly. The transparency was refreshing. I also really enjoyed the fact that the palette came with a Glamour Guide, loaded with lots of different makeup ideas. This is a wonderful addition and makes the palette more beginner friendly. Always a bonus!

Curious about how the Too Faced Pretty Rich eyeshadow palette performs? Here is a recent makeup look...

Check out how this makeup look came together and see some live swatches over on my YouTube channel. It is dedicated to this beautiful high-end release. Here goes....

Overall, the Pretty Rich eyeshadow palette is solid. The packaging is cute and the theme is consistent throughout. There are beginner friendly elements, a good combination of eyeshadow finishes, and wearable shades that can be dressed up or dressed down. Plus, I really appreciate the fact that the brand mentioned the need for a glitter glue on the palette itself. It really makes a difference! Though some eyeshadow shades performed better than others...this was a lovely addition to my makeup collection. Especially for that reduced price.
