new in: built in the chaos by ambyr michelle

Beyond the Gates has it all. An amazing cast, interesting storylines, memorable costumes, stunning hairstyles, and bold makeup looks. What a treat to have something wonderful to watch five days a week. Since it premiered in early 2025, there have been a handful of posts about Beyond the Gates on the creation of beauty is art. It is easy to be inspired by such an incredible series! In addition to watching the episodes, it is also fun to follow some of the cast members on various social media platforms. One of my favourite actresses from the show, Ambyr Michelle, has a YouTube channel and recently released her first book, Built in the Chaos. At first, the book was not available in my country, but I was finally able to purchase a copy.

Built in the Chaos is described as "not a set of answers, but a companion for the in between." This definitely feels like an in between stage of life for me, so that alone piqued my interest. Not only was this book written by an actress that I admire (Ambyr is so talented. And there was a line in her short film, "The Little Girl Inside," that has continued to inspire me: what if I never become her?) but it also seems applicable to where I am right now. Built in the Chaos has a little bit of everything. There are personal stories, journal prompts, and challenges included in the book. Since I love a good journal prompt, this checks all the boxes for me. I am looking forward to reading, getting inspired, journaling, and building something beautiful.

An unexpected surprise? The book came autographed! I was stunned - and thrilled - to find that my copy of Built in the Chaos was autographed by Ambyr Michelle. I feel so incredibly grateful to finally have a copy of this book in my hands. Life has been tough the last little and I am looking to build something meaningful in the midst of all this chaos. I will share an update post in the future as I work my way through the book, but for now, I just wanted to share something special that made me smile.

What books have you added to your collection recently? Do you enjoy books that include journal prompts?
