my five most listened to artists of 2025.

Streaming is not really my thing, but it has been interesting to see my friends post lists of their most listened to artists of the year. I love to see what people have been into lately. Music is a really important part of my life, so even though I do not have an official "wrapped" list, it seemed appropriate to share some of my most listened to artists of 2025. Here goes...

  • KATSEYE. This one should come as no surprise, because I have posted about my obsession with KATSEYE a few times this past year and even shared a concert review recently. All of the music that the band has released has been fantastic. I listened to all of their songs on repeat, but Time Lapse was a definite standout (both the studio recording and the live version) and their new song, Internet Girl, is a full-blown obsession at this point.
  • John Denver. My favourite singer is John Denver, so his music is always in heavy rotation. John sang about the environment, peace, love, and connection. His message is just as relevant today as it was when the music was originally released. So often, the world seems hopeless thanks to horrific politicians, war, injustice, and abusers. I find it difficult to function well in a world like this, but listening to John always manages to relight my fire. He reminds me that change is possible and this world is worth fighting for. I love all of his music, but my most listened to John Denver albums this year were Windsong (because Looking For Space just understands) and Dreamland Express (because Don't Close Your Eyes, Tonight is everything). It is nice to know I can always turn to John Denver.
  • Olivia Rodrigo. There are a lot of fantastic artists out there and Olivia Rodrigo is high up on that list. I am eagerly looking forward to her next album, but in the meantime, both Sour and Guts remain beloved albums in my collection. Songs like Making The Bed, Lacy, Obsessed, Happier, and 1 Step Forward 3 Steps Back still blow me away. Her music is raw, honest, heartbreaking, empowering, and relatable. I love how vulnerable her music is.
  • KPop Demon Hunters. There is one movie that really wowed audiences this year....KPop Demon Hunters. It wasn't a movie that I watched right away, because I have a habit of adding things to my watch list and then forgetting to watch them. But then I heard a clip of Golden on social media and it reminded me to watch the movie. It was an immediate obsession. I love the movie, the characters, and the music. The soundtrack has been played in my home an awful lot. I especially love What It Sounds Like, Free, Golden, and Soda Pop. Every song is a winner.
  • Taylor Swift. To be honest, most years, Taylor Swift is one of my most listened to artists. However, with the release of The Life of a Showgirl album, she was played more than ever in my home. I love the album so much. Opalite is my favourite Taylor Swift song ever and songs like Elizabeth Taylor, Father Figure, and CANCELLED! really shone. In addition to the new album, all sorts of other Taylor Swift songs were musts for me in 2025, including Karma, Lavender Haze, Mad Woman, Hey Stephen, and Betty. Taylor Swift has so many incredible albums to choose from.

Now for a few honourable mentions. In addition to the five artists listed above, there was also a lot of Sabrina Carpenter, David Archuleta, Donny Osmond, Clay Aiken, and music from the two Wicked soundtracks played in my home this year.
