revisited review: oh deer christmas shadow and face palette

Seasonal makeup items are always a thrill. Christmas music and movies are played in my home throughout the year....and holiday makeup items are used on a regular basis. The cute illustrations, themed names, and beautiful colours make the world a little better. It should come as no surprise that the Oh Deer Christmas Shadow and Face Palette from Beauty Creations has been in heavy rotation since last holiday season. I have focused on making the most of this Christmas themed release. Now, it is time for a revisited review. Have my opinions changed? What colours are most used? Keep reading to find out...

As a reminder, this is what the Oh Deer Christmas Shadow and Face Palette looked like when it was purchased last year. (It is not nearly as pristine now after months of consistent use.) There was a nice assortment of neutral colours and wintery colours (like Festive, Sparkle, and North Pole in the middle row) for the eyeshadow as well as a blush and highlight. I am still loving the colour story all these months later. There are some really beautiful shades of brown and then there are those fabulous shimmers. The eyeshadows that I have been using the most from this palette are: Twinkle, Sparkle, Dasher, and Reindeer. I love being able to use those beautiful matte neutrals and then layer on something sparkly and fabulous. The blush shade is bold and pigmented and has been used a lot, but the highlight is still meh in terms of the pigmentation. It takes an awful of effort for the shimmery pink and gold highlight to actually make a statement. Overall, I like that this Christmas inspired palette has a combination of finishes, a lot of easy to wear neutrals, and some cheeks products. It is versatile and well themed.

The Oh Deer Christmas Shadow and Face Palette from Beauty Creations is still a standout. It has been a lot of fun putting it to good use all of these months. The cute design on the packaging makes me smile, the themed eyeshadow names are thoughtful and fun, and the colour story is impressive. The eyeshadows perform well and the blush is fabulous. My opinion on the highlight hasn't changed, unfortunately, because it lacks the necessary pigmentation to really dazzle. All in all, this was a wonderful and thoughtful release. It is one that has been loved a whole lot since the original review was posted here on the creation of beauty is art. For the makeup look shown above, the eyeshadow shade Dasher was applied all over the lid and a bit of Reindeer was added to the outer corner. Some Santa's Helper was used to blend everything out and then the glitter shade, Festive, was layered on top. Cheer was applied to the inner corner for a little extra sparkle and shine. There is so much to love!
