unexpected makeup haul (r.e.m. beauty and wet n wild)

It has been a long time since I casually browsed the beauty aisles of the drugstore. Thanks to a generous birthday gift from one of my oldest friends, there was a gift card burning a hole in my pocket - and I was all too eager to put to good use. That is how this unexpected makeup haul came to be. Keep reading for a closer look at these Wet n Wild and r.e.m. beauty products.

At this particular drugstore location, there were some heavily discounted items from the Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers line of products. (Left over Halloween makeup items...but I like bold makeup all year round.) All of the Wet n Wild products shown cost between $2 CDN and $2.50 CDN, so the price was definitely right and it allowed me to make the most out of the gift card that my friend so kindly gave me. The first product pictured above is a Colored Mascara in the shade Batty Burgundy. Why a coloured mascara? It seemed like as good a time as any to add a little extra colour into my makeup looks. The next item is the Liquid Eyeliner in Moonlight Trance. It is a beautiful metallic blue. I loved the green eyeliner from this line, Run For The Hills, and look forward to putting another colour to good used. Next was the Contour Palette in the shade Thirsty Vampire. There is a dark burgundy colour and a dark grey included. These aren't necessarily colours that I plan to use for contour, but I think the burgundy would be nice for blush and the grey would be nice for an eyeshadow. There are so many fun possibilities!

There were two other Wet n Wild products from the Fantasy Makers line added to this unexpected makeup haul. The first is a Lip Stain in the shade Midnight Kiss, which is a dark black. I do have a weakness for black lipstick, but it can be hard to find one that offers full coverage and stays put. Fingers crossed this lip stain will check off all the boxes. (Stay tuned for reviews and makeup looks using all of these products in the future.) Then there is possibly the most exciting Wet n Wild product, the Chameleon Chrome Lip Foil in the shade Serpent's Spell. This is one of the coolest lip products that I have seen in ages. It has this incredible blue-green colour. It is boldly pigmented and makes a statement. I can't wait to have fun with this lip product.

The last item in this unexpected makeup haul comes from r.e.m. beauty and is themed around the new movie, Wicked: For Good. It is called the Ozian Forest Eyeshadow Palette and it totally took my breath away. I tried to resist this palette, because realistically, there are a lot of greens and browns in my makeup collection already (I love them) but those shimmers were simply too tempting. There will be a full review on this eyeshadow palette in the next little while, but my first impressions are positive. The packaging is gorgeous, with butterflies and a green marble look on the inside, and the eyeshadow shades are beautiful. I can't wait to put them all to use, especially the bold shimmers, Festivate and Embrace Your Inner Green.

There you have it...an unexpected makeup haul thanks to the kindness of a beloved friend. It was really exciting to browse the beauty aisle and choose an assortment of colourful products. Here is hoping I can make the most of them in the next while.
