There have been a handful of concerts on my calendar recently (and one more before the end of this year) and the latest was David Archuleta. I have been a fan of his for a very long time, but he has only performed in the city nearest me once, way back in 2008 on the American Idol: Live Tour. In 2020, my mom and I had purchased tickets to see him perform and even paid extra for a meet and greet. Well, the COVID-19 pandemic happened, and that concert was cancelled. Finally, around five years later, it was possible to see him concert. Unfortunately, my mom was not able to attend this one, but my lovely husband was kind enough to attend with me. Keep reading for a mini concert review and an Earthly Delights inspired makeup look.
The latest EP from David Archuleta is called Earthly Delights and the colours are earth toned, of course. For that reason, it was the Fantasy Makers Eye & Face Palette in Poisoned Forest from Wet n Wild (shared in my recent spooky season makeup haul here) that was used. The brownish green shade was used as well as the beige colour and a bit of the dark sparkly green on the outer portion of the eyelid. The blush was neutral and there was a brown lipstick added to complete this themed look.
Now for the actual concert. The venue was not easily accessible for us via transit, but we managed to make it there with enough time to still see the opening act. Rachel Bochner was really good and I liked a lot of the songs that she played. This was a general admission show and my back was aching after a little while (I might be too old and creaky for general admission shows. Or at least my back troubles might limit my ability to attend them in the future). All I could focus on was finally being able to hear David Archuleta perform his own music. The setlist was varied, with lots of Earthly Delights songs, some covers, and his biggest hits. It was especially meaningful to hear David speak about the inspiration behind the song, "Hell Together," and his choice to live as his authentic self. My only disappointment was that there was so little from the album, Therapy Sessions on the setlist. That is my favourite album from David and it would have been nice to hear a lot more of that music. All in all, it was a wonderful night. Though it was hard to see a lot of the time (everyone at the concert was very tall) and my back ached, it was incredible to see David Archuleta and hear songs that have had such a positive impact on my life.
There was a merchandise stand tucked away at the back of the venue with a couple of t-shirts, hats, and a signed vinyl of the Earthly Delights EP. At first, it was just the t-shirt (shown above) but then my husband gave me the go ahead to purchase the record as well. It is exciting to have a David Archuleta autograph - and the Earthly Delights EP to listen to on my record player.
What a fabulous night! Though seated venues are definitely my preference these days, it was so meaningful to be able to see David Archuleta in concert. Here is hoping he will return here for another show in the not so distant future.
