Concerts can be so much fun. Though not all concerts result in a positive experience (there are many factors to consider, from transportation to the crowd) it is wonderful when everything feels right. That is what happened during the Aqua concert my husband and I attended recently. Keep reading for a review and a peek at the colourful makeup look created for the occasion.
As for the concert itself? It was wonderful. Our seats were closer to the back of the venue, but we were still able to see well. The stage setup was fairly simple, with a band in the back and a piano in the center. The singers, Lene and Rene, bounced around the stage and made sure it was a high energy event. There were all sorts of familiar songs played (like "Barbie Girl") but my personal highlight was hearing "Cartoon Heroes." I was so obsessed with that music video back in the day, so it was really cool to hear that song performed live. All in all, it was a positive experience, with a good crowd, a good venue, and a whole lot of amazing music. I was even able to say hello to my close friend and her boyfriend who were also at the show. Now for my Aqua inspired makeup look. I wanted to focus on the iconic colour that the band is known for and also add in a little sparkle.
For this Aqua inspired makeup look, there were two different eyeshadow palettes used. The first was the Totally 2000s Blue Fur 9 Color Shadow Palette. The light blue eyeshadow was applied all over the lid. Then to make this a little more dramatic, some eyeshadows from the Twilight Eyeshadow Palette from ColourPop were used. This includes the shimmery blue shadow, The Cullens, the matte blue shade, Irrevocably, and the blue glitter shade, Immortal. I loved layering the different colours to create something that was colourful, sparkly, and a little bit dramatic. The rest of the makeup look was fairly neutral to allow that colourful eyeshadow look to be the focus. There was bronzer on the cheeks and a neutral gloss on the lips to finish it all off.
It was nice to have a fun and uncomplicated evening. There are a few more concerts in my future (David Archuleta and Katseye in the fall and Shaun Cassidy in the new year) and I am looking forward to them all. Thank goodness for live music.
Have you been to any concerts recently? Do you have anything fun planned in the next little while?
