pros and cons: paris hilton cosmetics mascaras

Shopping hasn't exactly been possible for me lately. Why? Where I live, there have been various levels of lockdowns and capacity limits since 2022 began. Not to mention the fact that I generally try to avoid leaving the house due to COVID-19 concerns. In fact, the last time I went shopping in a store was in mid-December. At that time, there were a few items that were purchased for others and a few for myself...but I am only just starting to put them to good use. Take the Platinum Doll Mascara Set from Paris Hilton Cosmetics as an example. It was found at Winners for a mere $7.99. Three mascaras for less than $8? It was worth a shot. Want to find out how these mascaras performed? Here are some pros and cons for each of the mascaras. 

The Platinum Doll set was one of several Paris Hilton Cosmetics mascara sets available at that time. Some of the designs were ridiculously cute, but ultimately, the Platinum Doll Mascara Set won out, because it had three different types of mascara to test and try. That included the Lengthening Mascara, Volumizing Mascara, and Curling Mascara. The packaging for the set was really pretty and definitely felt Paris Hilton inspired. There were jewels scattered all over! It was really adorable and it is always nice to see affordable products have a good theme in place. In the past, my experience with Paris Hilton Cosmetics has been a little hit and miss. Some products have been great and others have been a little disappointing...but all in all, they have all been fun to put to the test. Ready for some pros and cons? It is time to review these affordable items.

Paris Hilton Cosmetics: Lengthening Mascara

The black mascara tube (pictured above) contains the lengthening mascara and it has a pretty standard wand design. 

Pros:

• Sturdy mascara tube with the Paris Hilton Cosmetics logo printed on the side.
• Standard mascara wand design.
• Mascara works fairly well and lengthens the lashes.

Cons:

• Applicator wand is flimsy and has a lot of bend.
• The mascara formula is quite dry.

Paris Hilton Cosmetics: Volumizing Mascara

The pink mascara tube (pictured above) contains the volumizing mascara and it has a wider wand design. 

Pros:

• Sturdy mascara tube with the Paris Hilton Cosmetics logo printed on the side.
• Thicker mascara wand design to create more volume.

Cons:

• Applicator wand is flimsy and has a lot of bend.
• The mascara formula is quite dry.
• The mascara did not add much thickness to the lashes. 

Paris Hilton Cosmetics: Curling Mascara

The white mascara tube (pictured above) contains the curling mascara and it has a curved wand design. 

Pros:

• Sturdy mascara tube with the Paris Hilton Cosmetics logo printed on the side.
• Curved mascara wand design.

Cons:

• Applicator wand is flimsy and has a lot of bend.
• The mascara formula is quite dry.
• The mascara does not apply easily on the lashes. 

All in all, the mascaras included in the Platinum Doll set were...meh. Not great and not worthy of a repurchase. This was surprising, because previously, the Lengthening Mascara had performed well and created a really pretty fluttery effect. This time? It worked, but the quality wasn't quite as impressive. And both the Volumizing Mascara and Curling Mascara fell flat. They were not favourites of mine, unfortunately. The Platinum Doll set was not a standout.
