#FOTD + mini reviews (burt's bees and eyeko london)

There is nothing better than free makeup. During the summer, one of my closest friends gave me a few items that she did not want from one of her subscription boxes. One item was the Burt's Bees Liquid Lipstick in the shade Peony Puddle and the other was the Eyeko London Double Act Shadow Stick. Finally, I was able to put both of those items to the test in a recent #FOTD look. It was simple and understated, but ideal for a casual night in with my husband. Curious about how these two makeup products perform? Here is everything you need to know about the eyeshadow stick and liquid lipstick.

Burt's Bees Liquid Lipstick in the shade Peony Puddle. The first item that I was able to try out is a liquid lipstick from Burt's Bees. In the past, there have been several products from Burt's Bees that I've been able to test out. They have all been disappointing. There is something about the formulas that do not appeal to me. But the colour of Peony Puddle looked so beautiful that I was hopeful that this experience would be different. This liquid lipstick shade is a gorgeous metallic kind of shade. It is really flattering and pairs well with many different makeup looks. Unfortunately, the formula is such a disappointment. It feels sticky and uncomfortable on the lips. Sigh! It really is a shame, because the colour, Peony Puddle, is just outstanding and it would really be ideal for the fall season.

Eyeko London Double Act Shadow Stick. Next up is the eyeshadow stick from Eyeko London. Now, it has been a long time since I last reviewed Eyeko London products on my blog...but I had very positive experiences each time. This experience was slightly more mixed. The Double Act Shadow Stick came with a sharpener (which is super handy to have) as well as two different cream eyeshadows. On one site, there was the lighter shade, Cream, and on the other side was Cookies, the slightly darker shade. The shade, Cream, is fabulous in every possible way. I love how easily it applies to the inner corner and along the lower lash line. It adds a really nice pop of shimmer and the product is really easy to control. However, the shade, Cookies, does not have enough contrast to really stand out. For a double ended shadow stick like this, it would have been nice to have more contrasting colours. That being said, the formula is great and these have a lot of staying power. I will definitely be using the Cream shade on the inner corner on a regular basis. It is a winner!

#FOTD featuring Burt's Bees and Eyeko London. For this particular #FOTD, it was all about simplicity and putting those new products to good use. To start, I used my current favourite foundation, the L'Oreal Pro Glow all over the face. Then the Too Faced Gingerbread bronzer was used to lightly bronze the face. On the brows? It was the Essence Eyebrow Designer Pencil (which is an ultra affordable brow pencil that works really well). On the eyes, the shade Cookie from the Eyeko London Double Act Shadow Stick was applied all over the lid. Then the shade Cream was applied underneath the brow bone and in the inner corner. Then the NYX Epic Ink Liner was used to create a winged liner look and the Coca Cola x Morphe Make It Big mascara was used to finish off the eye look. On the cheeks, the blush in The Emily Edit - The Needs palette was used. And then of course, the Burt's Bees Liquid Lipstick in Peony Puddle finished it all off. This #FOTD was pretty simple and laid-back, but it was definitely a nice way to test out some new-to-me products. Even though they weren't all winners, the end result was decent.

Have you tried either of these makeup products? What do you think of this #FOTD?
