makeup revolution week: face products (brushes, blush, and contour)

It's hard to believe, but this is the last day of the latest theme week here on the creation of beauty is art. For the last several days, it has been all Revolution all the time. You've seen different makeup looks and have read reviews of all sorts of different products. (Including eyeshadow palettes, setting sprays, lip glosses, and primers.) Today? It is all about travel brushes, a blush palette, and a contour palette. Find out if these Revolution Makeup items were hits, misses, or fell somewhere in between.

Product Review (Travel Brush Set)

Travel is a fairly important part of my life. I love to visit different places and see the world as much as humanly possible. No wonder so many beauty items in my collection are ultra travel friendly. However, when it comes to makeup brushes, there are a handful that I rely on day in and day out. I wasn't sure how this Travel Brush Set from Revolution would compare. Right off the bat, the size of the brushes is clearly perfect for travelling. The shorter handles make the brushes easier and more convenient to pack. This particular set comes with: a travel powder brush, travel foundation brush, travel eyeshadow brush, and a travel brow brush. These are excellent brushes. The bristles are soft and they work really well. The only downside? One eyeshadow brush doesn't really work for me. Having a variety of shapes makes application so much easier - and allows you to create a variety of eye looks. I love the brushes included but I would've loved to see another brush or two!

Product Review (Blush and Highlight Palette)

Confession: I am a sucker for a good blush palette. And this? This is a good blush palette. It contains a variety of matte and shimmer blushes as well as some shimmer highlights. The top row has three different highlights (though that first shade also doubles as a blush and highlight in one on my pale skin) and the bottom row is a mixture of matte and shimmer blushes. Honestly? Every single shade is beautiful. The shimmers look gorgeous and glowing on the skin and have an impressive amount of pigmentation. The matte blushes are equally pigmented and add just the right flush of colour to the cheeks. All of the shades are really flattering, easy to wear, and will compliment a wide array of makeup looks. This is one palette I've been keeping nearby lately. I absolutely love the texture of the products, the beautiful blush colours, and the noteworthy glow the highlights provide. Out of all the Revolution items I've tried so far...this is my absolute favourite item.

Product Review (Ultra Contour Palette)

Last but not least! The final item in my Revolution set is this Ultra Contour Palette. This is similar to a NYX contour palette that I use regularly, however this particular product also has highlights. It includes: matte and shimmer highlights and matte contour powders. Essentially there is a light powder, a banana toned powder, a soft creamy highlight, and a white shimmery highlight on the top row. Then on the bottom there are three bronzer shades (one lighter, one cooler toned, and one deeper) and a subtle bronze highlight. The texture is smooth and these blend really easily. This is a fantastic contour palette if you have light to medium skin. However, if you are a little darker then this is probably not going to do a whole lot for you. It is definitely better suited to lighter skin tones. This is a well rounded palette, the products are fabulous, and it has become a much-needed addition to my everyday makeup routine.

What an exciting week. It was so much fun to try out different products from Revolution (also known as Makeup Revolution, Revolution London, etc.). There were a lot of items that wowed - including eyeshadow palettes, the blush palette, and that contour palette. There were also a few items that missed the mark - like the lip gloss trio and the setting sprays. All in all though, it was really wonderful to test and try them all out. Now I have a much better understanding of the brand.

Are you a fan of Revolution? Have you tried any of these items?
