makeup tutorial: sucker punch

I watched Sucker Punch a few weeks ago. I know this is probably old news, by oh my goodness, the makeup! I loved the movie itself - visually it simply beautiful. The film was dark, dramatic and daring. However, the entire movie, I could not stop admiring Baby Doll's makeup. It was dramatic, but beautiful. It captured the characters innocence, but still looked sexy.

FACE:

Moisturize your face, apply a primer, and then put on your foundation. To get Baby Doll's skin, make sure your skin looks as flawless as possible. Aim to pick a foundation with a fuller coverage and that is somewhat fair. Her skin is so porcelain that she makes me looked tanned! Use concealer on any spots with redness. Blush is a huge part of this look! I used Deep Throat by NARS, but anything warmer-toned will work! Build the colour onto the apples of your cheeks, working slightly downwards. Make sure you are building the colour and not just slapping on a ton of blush. It'll really help make the cheeks look flushed instead of overdone. Her skin is also glowy and dewy, so apply a highlighter on the apples of the cheeks, chin, and tip of the nose. As for the eyebrows, Baby Doll's are rather thin and light....not too much I could do about my own, but if you have naturally thin brows, just fill them in with a light shadow.

EYES:

Start off with the eyeshadow. Apply something shimmery and silvery all over the lid. Then, using a dark brown matte shadow, build up colour from the inner part of the crease, and work outward into a winged shape. Blend this line so it isn't so harsh. That is the shadow done! Using a black liquid eyeliner, line the upper water line and wing it out slightly at the ends. The line should be fairly thick, so build this up. Add a coat of mascara to the upper and bottom lashes. Now time for the fun part: lashes! These completely pull the look together. Choose a pair of really dramatic false eyelashes. Using a pair of tweezers to hold onto the lashes, apply the lash glue and let it dry for about twenty seconds. Once the glue is tacky, carefully apply the lashes as close to the lash line as possible.

LIPS:

Baby Doll's lips are really dramatic. Using a lip liner, overdraw your top lip a bit, to add extra drama. Then apply a pinkish red or berry coloured lipstick within the lines. I used Revlon Super Lustrous in Berry Rich. In this look, the lips are matte, so you don't need to add a gloss over top.

There it is! A recreation of Baby Doll's makeup from Sucker Punch. I absolutely adore this look - I didn't want to take it off!

  5. Very girly and pretty, I like. For more porcelain skin tones I think the Benefit High Beam luminizer works perfect to give your foundation a dewy look. I haven't seen that movie yet. I just remember seeing it in the previews months ago.
