#FOTD: colourful goth makeup look

There is something exciting about blending gothic inspired makeup looks with unexpected pops of colour. The juxtaposition makes me positively giddy. So it only made sense to put the Jeffree Star Cosmetics Cremated Eyeshadow Palette to use. The palette was originally released in the summer (at that time, I created a post about it and used dupe products to create a gothic and grey makeup look). Since then, a lot of not-so-impressive information has been released about Jeffree Star. Needless to say, my feelings about the man behind the brand are complicated. But I was gifted the Cremated Eyeshadow Palette from Jeffree Star Cosmetics for Christmas and it was really exciting. I had always heard rave reviews about the quality of the eyeshadows. And as I mentioned in my original gothic and grey makeup post....grey shadows were scarce in my makeup collection. Not anymore! The palette has a wide array of grey, white, and black shades. One of my closest friends often refers to me as her unicorn. At first, I didn't know quite what to make of this. What did it mean? Was it a good thing? A bad thing? Turns out...it was her way of celebrating my unique and colourful personality. Though I am very shy by nature and not exactly a people person, my interests add colour to who I am. (I love obscure holiday movies, 70s pop music, and Murder She Wrote.) I like what I like and I refuse to be apologetic about those things! I am young at heart, love colour and glitter, and believe in true love and happy endings. It has been about eleven months since I last spent time with that friend in person. Today...I am missing her more than usual. So, I decided to do a little inspiration post. The theme is of course, unicorns. Scents are incredibly powerful. The right perfume can instantly transport you back to another time and place. Make you feel polished and put together. Express deeply rooted emotions. Each spritz of perfume has the ability to unlock a truly unique and unforgettable moment. Ahh...bliss. Needless to say, I am a massive fan of fragrances. (Don't believe it? Over the holidays, my husband gifted me a Juicy Couture perfume set with three different mini bottles. I have been putting them to good use recently and wanted to share some of my thoughts. What is it about glitter? It makes everything seem a little bit better. The way it sparkles and shines in the light immediately makes the world seem happier and full of hope. Over the years, glitter has taken over most parts of my life. From makeup to nail polish to purses....it is absolutely everywhere. And I wouldn't have it any other way! More recently, this glitter obsession has carried over to my footwear as well. Over the holiday season, I was gifted two very sparkly pairs of shoes. One was a stylish pair of sneakers and the other was an over the top pair of boots. Winter, spring, summer, and fall, one thing is certain: I will be glittery from head to toe. Happy Valentine's Day! What an exciting time. As you may know if you have been reading my blog for a significant amount of time...holidays are my favourite. Quite frankly, I am not overly picky about what holiday it is. I love them all. A lot. There is just something so exciting about holidays. The excitement in the air, the anticipation, and the way they bring people together. Though this year will definitely be different (depending on where you live, there may not be date nights or girls nights or time spent with family) it can still be full of wonder and appreciation.

Somehow, Valentine's Day is right around the corner. Though it's hard to believe...we are already two weeks into February. The holiday will certainly look different for a lot of people this year. No heading to the store to purchase overpriced cards and candy, no dinner reservations, and no movie theatre tickets to put to good use. Though it will be far more lowkey than usual, there is still a lot of fun to be had. Whether you are celebrating solo or with someone special, a little makeup can go a long way. Makeup has long been a passion of mine. These days? It is my therapy. Being stuck inside so often has a way of making you feel a little...blah. Even though I am happy to work from home and generally enjoy staying indoors, makeup gives me that little burst of creativity. That little spark of joy. Another day, another Charmed Aroma post. The holiday season certainly left me feeling pampered. Especially because so many of my friends and loved ones gave me Charmed Aroma items! There is a good reason for this: the products make me very happy indeed. New accessories are always thrilling...especially when the surprise element is thrown in there.
