by seeing London, I have seen as much of life as the world can show.

I leave for London, England tomorrow morning! I have been lucky enough to visit several times over the years, but every time I go, I am just as excited. London is my favourite place in the world - other than home, of course!

If things are quiet here for the next week, it is because I am off shopping and sight-seeing. I hope you all have an amazing week!

guest post: Mainly Meghan

Hi everyone! I hope your week is going well so far - only two more days until the weekend! I wanted to introduce the very first guest post on the creation of beauty is art. by Meghan from Mainly Meghan! Thanks so much to Meghan for this amazing fall inspired post!

Hey guys, it's Meghan from Mainly Meghan!

"Autumn is a second spring where every leaf is a flower (Albert Camus)" is one of my favorite quotes. It's true, there is nothing prettier than the array of golden and red flowers scattered among each tree. Fall colors are just so fabulous, so are the makeup looks you can create using the shades of the leaves.

From left to right, it's Trish Mcevoy's Sable Bronze, ULTA'S Sunkist, a light pinky color from Sonia Kashuk's Sweet Nothings Palette, the dark brown from Revlon's Not Just Nudes, and finally, the light brown color from the Revlon palette. To create the perfect fall eye look, brush the light pink all over the lid, at Sunkist into the outer half of your lid. Add the Revlon light brown to the inner lid. Add the darker Revlon brown to the crease and sweep the bronze over it. Swipe on your favorite mascara... That's it!

Trish McEvoy's lip palette in Celebrate is literally the best product... Ever! From left to right the colors are Celebrate, Rosette, Cheers, Mulberry, London (my favorite), Quartz, Sheer Mulberry, Rose Petal, Miami, and Paris Red. What's great about this palette is that it has a color for any day, time, or place. The variety is spectacular! Also, the quality is just fabulous. It sticks to your lips like glue. The packaging is also great. It's the size of a credit card... It fits everywhere!

This is my go-to hair look. At 6 in the morning, I don't always feel like straightening my hair. It takes a minute to put my hair in a side ponytail, swirl it up into a bun, and after you secure it loosen it up a tad by loosening strands. For a more elegant look, curl a few stands that fall out and set with hairspray.

What are your favorite products to break out during fall?

you think i'm pretty without any makeup on.

When it comes to makeup, I am like a kid in a candy store. It doesn't matter where I am - drugstore, Sephora, MAC - suddenly, my impulse control vanishes. I love trying out new makeup products, colours, brands....I just can't get enough! I'm sure there are quite a few people out there who relate to this problem! I recently added a few new things to my makeup collection.

Latest Additions:
 - Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Styling Creme
- L'Oreal Paris Magic Smooth Souffle Foundation in Creamy Natural
- Milani Easy Brow in Natural
- Rimmel Cream Shadow in Wicked Sweet
- Milani Crystal Eyez Sparkling Eye Shadow in Glamorously Glittering
- Revlon Lipstick in Gentlemen Prefer Pink
- Joe Fresh Lipstick in Brick
- Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Smitten

Left to Right:
Revlon Balm Stain (Smitten), Joe Lipstick (Brick), Revlon Lipstick (Gentlemen Prefer Pink), Milani Crystal Eyez (Glamorously Glistening), Rimmel Cream Shadow (Wicked Sweet), L'Oreal Paris Souffle Foundation (Creamy Natural).

Out of these new purchases, the standouts for me have to be Revlon's Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain and Joe Fresh's Matte Lipstick. I have been impatiently waiting for Revlon's Balm Stain to hit drugstores in Canada and it finally has! Well worth the wait! The texture is smooth and creamy, and adds rich colour that lasts! It is a fantastic product! As for the Joe Fresh Matte Lipstick in Brick, I simply adore the colour! This brownish red shade is dramatic and perfect for creating a fall makeup look!

Have you been makeup shopping lately?

on the way to every stories happy ending.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a Scott MacIntyre fan. The multi-talented musician, author, and American Idol Season 8 top 10 finalist, recently taped an interview for 100 Huntley Street. Since I am such a massive fan of his, I had to be there.

Despite the short notice and the two hour drive to get there, I saw Scott MacIntyre. It was such a wonderful experience! I was able to watch him perform two original songs and film the interview segments. I also met his beautiful wife, Christina, for the first time - she was so lovely!

The highlight for me was definitely watching Scott perform. The last time I saw him was during the American Idol tour, so this was my first time being able to hear him sing original material. So exciting!

Scott is such a talented musician, and I was so thrilled to be able to see him again!

If you haven't, be sure to check out my interview with Scott, from when his book, "By Faith, Not By Sight" was released!

favourite fall trend: baroque

With each new season comes a new fashion trend. This fall season, my favourite trend has to be Baroque. I cannot get enough of the rich, ornate pieces that are flooding the runway!

The Baroque trend is inspired by the clothing worn by the nobility during the Baroque period of the 16th and 17th century. This style of clothing is ornate, rich, and decorative. This period represented luxury, so this trend is about being a little over the top! The Baroque period has been inspiring many designers collections, from Dolce and Gabana to Armani!

What do you think of the Baroque trend? Are you looking forward to incorporating it into your fall wardrobe?

and falling's just another way to fly.

I love traveling and taking vacations. It seems I am always saving up to take one or am dreaming of some place to go! Recently, my boyfriend and I took a weekend trip up to Niagara Falls. It felt way too short, but it was a ton of fun!

While we were in Niagara Falls, we kept ourselves busy by checking out the falls and going through the novelty museums on Clifton Hill. It was the perfect getaway from everything!

Since I can't resist a good novelty photo, we took a ton of pictures during our time there. Here are a few of them!

It was the perfect weekend with the perfect person!

Do you love traveling? Where is the last place you visited?

new makeup post: fall luxe box edition + giveaway winner!

Before I get to today's post, I am super excited to announce the winner of the VIVI Clothes $15 (US) Voucher giveaway! The voucher goes to Selina from Capturing Everyday Beauty, who has been contacted with the prize! Thanks to everyone who entered, and congratulations to Selina!

Now, onto today's post!

A new season means a new Luxe Box! I love getting things in the mail - that aren't bills! And I love trying out new beauty products! Which is why I am always so excited when my Luxe Box arrives!

Included in the Fall Luxe Box
Orlane Skin Recovery Mask
Bi-Facial Eye Makeup Remover
Exfoliating Pad
Lise Watier Plumping Lip Gloss
Eyeko London Skinny Liquid Eyeliner

Lots of exciting things to try out! Out of everything in my Luxe Box, I was most excited about the Eyeko London Skinny Liquid Eyeliner. I am an eyeliner junkie. I can count the days that I don't wear eyeliner on one hand! It is my absolute beauty must!

My Thoughts:

The Eyeko London Skinny Liquid Eyeliner has become my current makeup obsession. This liquid eyeliner pen is a cinch to use! The tip is firm and pointed, making application smooth and super easy. The colour of the eyeliner is jet black and very pigmented. Unlike a lot of other liquid eyeliners, the formula isn't too wet or too dry. It goes on just right. I brought this with me when I went away for the weekend and it was absolutely perfect to travel with!

Have you tried anything by Eyeko London?

zest is the secret of all beauty. there is no beauty that is attractive without zest.

Dior's DiorShow mascara is one of my all-time favourite mascaras to use. The original formula is incredible for lengthening and thickening lashes. The mascara creates a bold and dramatic look! I cannot get enough of this mascara! When I heard about Dior's DiorShow: New Look mascara, I couldn't wait to try it.

What It Does:

DiorShow New Look features an exclusive breakthrough nana-brush to catch and coat every last lash with the precision of a couturier’s hand. The extraordinary formula extraordinaire, with a Lash Amplifier™ ingredient, for instant lash-multiplying action.

My Thoughts:

Like any product by Dior, the packaging is beautiful and elegant. When I opened it, I was most intrigued by the wand. It is very tiny and quite flexible. This is an amazing feature for getting the inner lashes and bottom lashes coated to perfection. However, the drawback to this feature, is that it was a bit more of a challenge to completely coat the upper lashes with such a small wand.

The formula itself is wonderful - it really adds a lot of volume and length to the lashes. Like the original DiorShow, the New Look adds drama to any makeup look! At $35 CDN (as compared to $31 for the original DiorShow) I don't know that this is worth the extra bit of money. It is a solid product, but I prefer the thicker wand of the original. It all comes down to wand preference on this one!

Have you tried Dior's Diorshow: New Look mascara? What do you think of it?

love it or leave it?

Avril Lavigne has been making a lot of headlines lately. Her engagement to Nickelback frontman, Chad Kroeger raised a whole lot of eyebrows! It isn't just her engagement that has been making news...

Avril recently attended the Magic Fashion and Apparel Trade Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center. She was there to promote her fashion line, Abbey Dawn. She wrote a long black skirt, a baggy Abbey Dawn t-shirt, a black fedora, and a pair of bright red glasses, to the event.

Generally, I love Avril's style. (Which I may be in the minority for!) I am a sucker for her glam-punk style. She has a way of bringing a fun, youthful spirit to her fashion!

This outfit, however, fell flat for me. There is something about the baggy shirt and skirt combination that should create an effortless look, but instead makes her look slouchy. When it comes to her accessories, I love the bright red glasses, but hate that fedora. Her makeup looks sloppy, and the faded blue streak in her hair adds to how unpolished Avril appears.

What do you think of Avril Lavigne's look? Love it or leave it?

in high school i tried out for the spelling team, but only because I wanted a letterman jacket.

With September in full swing, I have become super inspired by Letterman jackets. There is something about that All-American look that is just perfect for fall! I recently threw my own Letterman jacket (a great buy from H&M!) over a tank top and shorts to create a simple fall look - great for the transition between the summer and fall months!

Recently, Taylor Swift was seen rocking an over-sized Letterman jacket! It completely pulled her retro-inspired look together! Here are some Letterman inspiration pictures to get you excited about fall!

Do you own a Letterman jacket? Are you getting excited for fall fashion?

september days are here with summer’s best of weather and autumn’s best of cheer.

How on earth is it September already?? I find myself wondering how summer went by so quickly. Is anyone else having this problem?

I had an amazing summer. I spent it with a lot of great people, having fun, experiencing new things, and enjoying the warm weather. I worked a lot this summer, but it has largely been rewarding and exciting.

I was lucky enough to end my summer with a concert from my favourite band - Hanson! Hanson concerts are my happy place. I was thrilled to say goodbye to summer in such a perfect way!

On an unrelated note, this is my 250th post - hard to believe, but super exciting!

I hope you all had amazing summers! What were your highlights?
