3 looks 1 palette: morphe x nyane (fierce fairytale artistry palette)

Sometimes, makeup ruts happen. Other times, there seems to be so much room for colour and creativity. The latter seems true right now. That is probably because of the Morphe x Nyane Fierce Fairytale Artistry Palette from Morphe. Talk about room for imagination! There are so many exciting colours and finishes to use. Though the palette is a collaboration with a content creator, Nyane, this was not purchased for that reason. In fact, Nyane is not someone that I am familiar with. Morphe tends to have lots of collections with people that I do not know...but I suppose I am not the target audience for things anymore. (That has certainly been a bit of an adjustment in recent years.) The palette was one that I was able to purchase for a discounted price, and well, the colours were simply too beautiful to resist. Normally, there are 2 looks 1 palette posts here on the creation of beauty is art. but seeing as the Morphe x Nyane palette has three different sections, it only made sense to do a 3 looks 1 palette post featuring the Fierce Fairytale Artistry Palette from Morphe. Take a look at some colourful creations....

because barbie can be anything, women can be anything.

I can sum up my life lately in one word: Barbie. There have been an awful lot of Barbie related events and experiences taking place over the last few weeks. It all started with a Barbie themed party followed by multiple screenings of the new Barbie movie, which stars Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, and a ton of other notable actors. Truthfully? I wouldn't have it any other way. My mom has always loved Barbie and collected the dolls then and now. No wonder my first word ever spoken was "Barbie." This iconic figure has been an important part of my life. I literally can't remember a time without Barbie! Growing up, I loved playing with my dolls and dressing them in all sorts of different outfits. I loved making my Barbie organize picnics and hold fashion shows. Most of all, I loved believing in her world. After all, in Barbieland, Barbie could be anything, do anything, and make anything happen. She could have a hundred different careers, own her own home, have an assortment of vehicles, and make her own decisions. Barbie always represented what could be....and I loved her so much for that.

my favourite perfumes for summer.

Though I am not someone who designates certain perfumes "only" for summer or "only" for fall, there are some scents that I find myself reaching for more often during specific seasons. Since summer is fully underway (though you would never know it if you stepped into my home right now, since I am watching "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" while I write this) it only makes sense to highlight some of the perfumes in my collection that have been in heavy rotation lately. These are not necessarily summer scents, but these are scents that I love to wear most often when the weather is warm.

review: rouge romance matte blush palette (jaclyn cosmetics)

I have placed myself on a temporary shopping ban. Not only is this a good thing for my bank account, but it will also allow me to catch up on some outstanding reviews here on the creation of beauty is art. You see, I've gotten a little bit behind. Over the last several months, there have been quite a few new makeup items added to my collection. This is either from shopping trips out with friends or items that have been gifted to me by loved ones. So much makeup and so little time! I definitely have more than enough (though that is hard for me to admit)...so I will be focusing on all of those outstanding reviews and then making the most of all the products that are in my collection. Today, the focus is on Jaclyn Cosmetics. This is a brand that I have tried out a few times before with mixed results. Some products wowed and some were so-so, but it is always hard to resist a blush palette. After all, I do love a good blush! Here is everything you need to know about the Rouge Romance Matte Blush Palette.

#FOTD: olivia rodrigo vampire music video inspired makeup

Sour, the first album from Olivia Rodrigo, was easily my most listened to CD in 2021. And 2022. And it might be my most listened to in 2023 as well. The number of times that I have listened to that album is bordering on ridiculous. Though there had been a lot of incredible albums released in the last couple of years, Sour was the first one in a long time that made me feel the way I used to. See, back when I was younger, music was my whole identity. I would listen to the same albums over and over again, memorizing every little detail. Those albums made me feel safe and seen and understood in a way that I didn't feel in my day-to-day life. As I've gotten older, my love of music has stayed the same, but I don't always have that feeling when I listen to a new CD. I might love it, adore it, and listen to it many times, but it doesn't necessarily become a place of escape and understanding. Sour reminded me that I could still feel inspired in that way. It reminded me that music was (and still is) still a safe place for me. When it was announced that a new single would be released, there was a little nervousness on my part. Would it be as good as the songs on Sour? What if I didn't like it? What if I didn't have that feeling? It turns out that my fears were pointless, because her new song, Vampire, is perfection. I have listened to it at least a hundred times by now. I love everything about it. The lyrics speak to imbalanced power dynamics in a relationship (which is a topic that I am particularly passionate about) and the music video is a masterpiece. It is raw and emotional...and features some fantastic makeup.

current obsession: katy perry collections shoes

I remember the first time that I heard Katy Perry on the radio. Her unique voice immediately struck a chord and it wasn't long before I was a full blown Katy Kat (aka a Katy Perry fan). In the years since, I have continued to be a fan of hers and have posted about her music, makeup, perfume, and accessories on the creation of beauty is art. many times. Now? It is time to talk about her shoe collection. I had seen pictures of various collections online in the past and thought the designs were super adorable. When my mom gifted me the Summer Ballet Flat recently (which E! News included on a list of Katy Perry Collections shoes needed to "complete your summer wardrobe")...it was exciting to say the least. These summery shoes are totally my style and check off a lot of boxes. Ready to take a peek at the shoes? Find out why they are a current obsession? Here goes...

vacation highlights: montreal and ottawa

Ahh, travel. It is something that means a lot to me but is also something that is difficult for me. I am not very good with change...even if it is temporary change. At the same time, I love seeing interesting places and making memories with people that I love. That means that travel is part of my life despite my discomfort. (And all of the added discomfort caused by the pandemic.) Recently, an anniversary tag was shared here on the creation of beauty is art. and I mentioned that we would be taking an anniversary trip to Montreal and Ottawa. Want to know how it went? Here are some of the vacation highlights.

does it work?? la colors color craze gel nail polish

I have a weakness for all things neon. Especially when the summer months roll around. There is something so fun, so exciting, so bright about neon colours. If you ask me, neon has a way of making the world seem a little happier and more hopeful, which is always a good thing. Of course, when I saw the LA Colors Color Craze Gel Nail Polish on the shelves, it was impossible to resist. Not only was it affordable ($3.50) but it was also a vibrant and playful neon green. It was a simple decision to add it to my cart. So...does it work?? Here is everything you need to know about this ultra vibrant nail polish from LA Colors.

what i've been watching lately (television shows and movies)

I have always loved television shows and movies. Like books, they were my escape from the world. I didn't have a lot friends growing up and was picked on a lot in school, so at the end of the day, there was something extra special about plopping down in front of the television set. I was free. Even now, all those years later, I feel the same way. Sitting in front of the television set to watch a show or a movie makes me feel safe. It is also my reward at the end of the day. There are a few different things that I have been watching lately. Want to know what they are? Here are some standout shows and movies...

jaclyn cosmetics: luminous rouge (review)

What is it about blush? It always seems to catch my eye. Especially when there is a colour that is a little different than the other offerings in my makeup collection. Take LOML as an example. This warm peach, almost orange, loose powder blush immediately intrigued me. This was another Winners find from a little while ago. (I seem to be buying the bulk of my non-essential products there these days. Despite having a Sephora gift card sitting in my wallet, nothing at Sephora has felt like a must have lately.) I have tried a few products from Jaclyn Cosmetics in the past and the experiences have been mixed. That being said, testing out different items is always fun for me. Especially when those products are heavily discounted. This blush cost about $8 CDN but it is still listed as $30 USD on the Jaclyn Cosmetics website. Not bad! Ready to find out how the Luminous Rouge loose powder blush from Jaclyn Cosmetics performed? Here is everything you need to know.

twelve years of the creation of beauty is art.

When the creation of beauty is art. first started, the idea was to create a place that was positive and focused on the beautiful things in the world. After all, there was so much hurt and pain out there already...I needed a space that prioritized positivity. Twelve years later and the creation of beauty is art. is still largely dedicated to love and light. I often talk about makeup, fashion, movies, music, holidays, accessories, and anything else that inspires me. However, I recognize now that I can't hide from the realities of the world that we live in. There are times when the not-so-beautiful aspects of life peek through. That is why I have added a list of organizations that offer support and resources on the sidebar (or you can click here) and that is why I am trying to be a little more vulnerable in my blog posts. the creation of beauty is art. has long been my safe space and a constant in my life. I want it to continue to be those things, while still acknowledging important societal issues. I care deeply about learning more, being an ally, and standing for what is right. You may have noticed a shift in some of my posts already and that might happen more as time passes. One example? Makeup is one of the ways that I express my creativity, but the makeup world is not always beautiful. In future, I would love to write about brands that I no longer recommend that I might have in the past. (Like Milani Cosmetics. I strongly suggest you avoid supporting such an unethical company. But more on that later.)

summer obsession: elf good vibes only hello sunshine quad

This elf eyeshadow quad has been sitting in my beauty room waiting to be used. Though it was purchased several months back...it was something that I wanted to make the most of during the summer months. It just had the perfect summer vibe. I love the warm beachy colours and the 70s inspiration. The Good Vibes Only collection has a bunch of different products (and different eyeshadow quads) but Hello Sunshine was the one that caught my eye. It was really affordable at only $5 CDN and was simply too fabulous to overlook. Here is everything you need to know about this current summer obsession.

kylie skin: kylie's glam beauty set (review)

It is no secret that I love the Kardashians/Jenners and discounted beauty products. Several months back, my friend and I stopped in at the mall before seeing a movie. While there, I found a set from Kylie Skin by Kylie Jenner at Winners for $30 CDN. There were three full-size products included, so it was a no brainer. According to the brand, Kylie's Glam Beauty Kit was a limited edition set that included a Sugar Lip Scrub, Kylie Matte Liquid Lipstick, and Makeup Melting Cleanser. Ready to take a peek inside? Here is everything you need to know about this Kylie Skin by Kylie Jenner set of products.

anniversary TAG (learn a little more about me)

Tomorrow is a special day. In the United States, it is a holiday, but for me, the date is a little more personal. It is my eight year wedding anniversary. It's kind of hard to believe that not only am I married, but I have been married for eight years. Marriage always seemed like something for grown ups. I guess somewhere along the line, I became an adult, but I often wonder when I will start feeling like one. At any rate, since it is our anniversary tomorrow (and I have previously talked about being more open about myself on this blog), I thought an anniversary themed tag made the most sense. As for how we are celebrating our anniversary this year, my husband and I are actually leave for a little getaway to Montreal, Quebec, and Ottawa today. Stay tuned for a post dedicated to all the highlights. Until then, here are some anniversary themed tag questions.

#FOTD: red and white makeup for canada day

To all of my Canadian readers...Happy Canada Day! To everyone else...Happy Saturday! Since it is a holiday where I live (but I don't have any real plans, aside from working on assignments and maybe eating a burger for dinner) it made sense to do a themed #FOTD here on the creation of beauty is art. In honour of the Canadian flag colours, my makeup look today is red and white. To create the look, lots of different products in my makeup collection were used, most of them drugstore or on the more affordable side. Ready to take a peek? Here is my red and white makeup look inspired by Canada Day.
