when bad days get worse.

Today has been an awful day. To start with, I've been quite ill. All I've done is drink water, watch TV, and try not to move. I eventually decided I would try and catch up on some blog stuff. I opened up my laptop - which was sitting exactly where I had left it the previous day - and there are a series of giant cracks on the left side. And better yet, nothing will show up on my computer screen around the cracks.

So, I have spent my afternoon calling Toshiba about getting it fixed. The computer is still under warranty, however, that doesn't seem to matter to them. It is considered 'physical damage' even though I didn't drop it or anything. How does this make sense?? The nearest place that will fix it is over an hour away from where I live. Not that it matters, since I don't have the money to get it fixed anyway. Sigh.

I am aware that this post is negative and whiny. For that, I apologize. I just needed a place to air my frustration and upset. Anyway, if I'm MIA on blogging for a few days, this is the reason.

it's like champagne or high must be prepared to suffer for it.

Shoes are my weakness. I have an addiction to high heels, despite the fact that I don't have nearly enough occasions to wear them. However, I am good at ignoring this fact!

I recently bought a gorgeous pair of Paris Hilton heels. They are a pretty purple, with a cute bow at the front. Fun but simple. I am already thinking of outfits to wear them with, which is clearly a sign of love!

What do you think of my new shoes? Do you have a favourite pair of heels?

the only source of knowledge is experience.

It amazes me how much an experience can change you. For the last three months, I have been interning with Young Hollywood. The website focuses on celebrities and entertainment news. (The last article I wrote for them was on Natalie Wood, which you can read here.) In my time with Young Hollywood, forty-five of my articles have been published on the site.

Though it has been trying, juggling the internship with work, blogging and the very occasional social life, every moment has been worth it. This experience has brought confidence to my writing. For the first time, I actually believe in myself.

The most important thing I take away from this, however, is determination. I want to write professionally. I want it beyond my vague childhood aspirations. It is only recently I've realized how hard I am willing to work to achieve my goals. I will make writing my career.

It is with this determination, I move forward. I have never been good with goodbyes - part of me is upset about this inevitable end. Though, as I write this, I am filled with beautiful anticipation...the next chapter of my life is about to begin.

sugar, sugar.

In the midst of my busy, stressed out life, I made time for one important day. On Monday, I went to a book signing by Buddy Valastro (The Cake Boss!) and also took in his show that same evening. My mom had bought the tickets for the show months ago, so it was exciting for the day to finally arrive.

My friend got me into Cake Boss when we went on a random mini 'camping' trip. I ended up watching several hours of Cake Boss on TLC, and it became an addiction. So when I heard about the book signing, I knew I needed to meet Buddy.

My mom and I headed down to the bookstore insanely early. There was a massive line outside in the freezing cold and I immediately panicked. Until learning that Bill Clinton was also there that day. We got to go right on inside and get in line for Buddy's book signing. Not too shabby!

Opening the book signing, was a performance of "Sugar Sugar" (the theme song to Cake Boss) by Andy Kim, that Buddy joined in on. Then it was time for the signing! When my moment with Buddy came, I got really nervous. (I get so starstruck!) But he was really nice! He asked me how old I was, and I told him, and then proceeded to tell him to say hello to Cousin Anthony for me. Buddy then told me he would hook us up!

Buddy was really nice and I had a lot of fun! My mom and I spent the rest of the day Christmas shopping before Buddy's show. The show itself was amazing! Buddy talked about his life, family and career, and there were a bunch of really funny decorating challenges with people from the audience. I had a blast!

What is the last really great show you went to?

i know God will not give me anything i can't handle. i just wish that He didn't trust me so much.

My life has been pretty full in the last several months. I have been working at my job, doing an internship, blogging and occasionally attempting to have a social life. I was handling it all pretty well, despite never having free time. Until tonight, that is. With one week left of my internship -which I have genuinely loved doing, even if it meant giving up my free time- I broke down. I could feel it coming on all day at work - I was in a foul mood for no reason at all; Everything got to me; It all felt like too much.

I have no solution, except to keep pushing through. What is helping me in this exact moment, is this picture I came across recently. It makes me feel calmer somehow.

What do you do to de-stress?

love it or leave it?

Gossip Girl is all about the fashion. It sports designer gowns and trend-setting looks. Which is why Blake Lively stood out at Gossip Girl's 100th Episode Party in New York City....but maybe not for the reason she should have.

The details on this gown are exquisite. Blake could have looked truly breathtaking at this event, had it not been for the fringe on the dress. Don't get me wrong - I love fringe! In this case, however, there was way too much going on. The long fringe completely distracted from the lovely details on the dress itself. It isn't even the fringe hanging from the shoulders that bothers me, but more the fringe near the bottom of the dress. I feel it took what could have been a sexy and sophisticated gown, to something entirely overdone.

What do you think of Blake's outfit? Love it or leave it?

makeup tutorial: classic kristen stewart purple and black smokey eye

People either love or hate Twilight. Personally, I love it. I love how dramatic and over the top everything is. I love being on Team Jacob. Yet, I love the idea of a love so intense between Bella and Edward. Basically, the only thing I care about at the moment, is Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part 1.

In a few hours, I will be seeing the movie! To ease my anxious excitement, I have decided to do a Kristen Stewart makeup tutorial. The look I am recreating, is from the premiere of Eclipse. This is actually my favourite makeup look from Kristen! I love the combination of that vibrant purple and black. The look is smokey, sexy, and beautiful!

Kristen's skin tends to look very natural. Choose either a tinted moisturizer or a light-medium coverage foundation. Her skin is quite fair, but warm up the face with just a hint of bronzer and apply concealer where needed. Kristen doesn't wear much on the cheek, so use a small amount of a warm toned blush slightly lower on the cheeks. Her brows are lighter in this look, but still nice and full! Be sure to fill in your brows with a brow pencil or matte eyeshadow. Her skin is also nice and glowy, so be sure to use a highlight on the cheeks, chin, the tip of the nose, and even the center of the forehead if you like!

This look is all about the eyes! Start by applying an eye primer over the lid. Sweep a bright purple shadow all over the lid. With a much deeper purple shade, apply the shadow to the outer corner of the eye and work it about halfway across the lid. Using a matte black shadow, apply close to the lash line at the outer corner. Work the black colour into the crease. Using a warm brown colour, blend along the top of the crease. Run the bright purple colour along the lower lash line, and the deeper purple colour right at the outer corner of the lower lash line. Now for the eyeliner! Apply to the upper and lower lash lines, keeping the line thin. Apply two coats of mascara to the top lashes and one coat on the bottom.

Kristen keeps it nice and natural on the lips! Use a peach lipstick, or even a light pink. Apply a coat of lip gloss over top. Simple!

And here is my recreated look:

Are you going to see Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 this weekend? What do you think of this makeup look?

desire of having is the sin of covetousness.

Inspiration struck tonight. Despite all of the work I need to get done, and the fact that I have to be up early tomorrow, I found myself on the hunt for photos that captured this inspiration. Here are some of my favourites:

scent of the moment.

I love perfume. The right scent can completely pull together a look, making it more than an outfit, but a frame of mind. Every morning when I go through my (rather large) perfume collection, I really think about what my perfume is going to say.

For the last week or so, I keep reaching for an old favourite - Fantasy by Britney Spears. She has some really fantastic scents. (I own an awful lot of them!) This one in particular though, is one of the best. Fantasy is fresh, flirty, and feminine. The sweet scent always seems like the perfect way to start my morning!

Today, I tried to branch out and use another fragrance, but to no avail! My current obsession with Fantasy doesn't seem to be over just yet!

Do you have a scent of the moment?

i just shop for shopping's sake.

Yesterday, I did a bit more Christmas shopping. I am really trying to get things done whenever I have free time, because I seem to have so little of it lately. My mom and I went shopping at this massive mall - it took us like six hours to get through it all! It was a long, but good day. I only have a few more gifts to buy people for Christmas!

One of the downsides of Christmas shopping, is that I tend to pick up things for myself as well. It's terrible! Here is what I ended up buying:

This is a really beautiful long-sleeved lace top from French Connection. Definitely a pretty and versatile piece! I just love it! It is actually a deep green colour, but looks more blue when photographed.

I also picked up a couple of really cute t-shirts from Armani Exchange. They are simple, but lovely! Definitely perfect for a casual outfit!

My addiction to anything leopard print is insane. This skirt is so pretty though, and was on sale! Even better! It has these cute drapey pockets on the sides, which I quite like! Can't wait to wear this!

I have this obsession with cartoon frogs - I don't know where it started, I just always have. So, when I saw this adorable hoodie and I just had to get it! So cute, right?

And lastly, the item I totally splurged on....

A pair of Betsey Johnson heels! They are PERFECT. Pale pink suede with white lace lining.....I saw them and knew that despite all logic or reason, I had to have them. Perhaps I should regret buying them, but they are so gorgeous, that I can't! I am in love!

What have you bought recently?

easy, breezy, beautiful.

Jessica Stam is bringing her striking and beautiful high-fashion look to the latest CoverGirl ads! She is the face of makeup artist Pat McGrath's new Lip Perfection Runway Shade line of lipsticks. Jessica is joining a long line of gorgeous Cover Girl models - from Jennifer O'Neill, Cybill Shepherd and Christie Brinkley, to Drew Barrymore, Ellen DeGeneres, and Taylor Swift.

Here is a look at Jessica's CoverGirl photos:

What I love most about this campaign, is that the first photo showcases smokey-eyed glamour, while the second is fun and flirty. Also, the lip colours look absolutely gorgeous! It looks like a very exciting lipstick collection. (Also, who else is having serious eyebrow envy??)

What do you think of the latest CoverGirl ads?

random acts of kindness.

Sometimes I am reminded about the goodness that exists in the world; It becomes so easy to get caught up in cynicism.

Yesterday, I did a bit of early Christmas shopping with a friend. At some point near the end of the night, my wallet fell out of my bag. I had no idea it happened, even after I returned home. It wasn't until I received a phone call from the wonderful woman who found it, that I even realized.

She picked up my wallet, used the name on my ID to look up my phone number, called me, and let me know she found my wallet. I went over there this morning to pick it up, and everything was in there, untouched. I am so grateful to her for doing something so completely selfless.

Lately, I have tired and stressed out. But this small, simple, caring act reminded me of all the beauty there is in the world. This post is dedicated to Mary-Anne....thank you.

deceiving others. that is what the world calls a romance.

Lately I have been very inspired by romantic, elegant, and daring images. Life at the moment has been rather busy - it seems I am always working on something, and there is never enough time. So in these busy moments, romantic photographs revive me.

Here are some of the photos inspiring me at the moment.

being wild at heart is really who I am.

Sometimes, makeup is like a love affair. You fall madly in love with a product for a while - the two of you are inseparable; You reach out for it without even realizing. Currently, I am having that kind of love affair with the Wet n Wild Color Icon trio, Walking On Eggshells.

I picked it up last week simply because the colours looked pretty and simple. This has become my go-to daytime look, though! The eyelid colour is this stunning champagne colour, the crease colour is a soft, light brown, and the brow bone colour is a pretty pale white. All of the eyeshadows are shimmery and go on beautifully. The best part? It cost less than $5...such a steal!

What products are you in love with at the moment?

every beautiful thought has been already sung.

Selena Gomez is truly becoming a red carpet stunner. She has consistently been one of the best dressed at every event she attends. This years EMA red carpet was no different! Selena looked simply stunning in a short lace gown. She accessorized perfectly with a red clutch, adding that perfect pop of colour! Sophisticated and elegant, this red carpet outfit was another excellent choice from Selena.

makeup look of the day: christina aguilera inspired

Recently, I came across some red carpet photos of Christina Aguilera for The Voice. She looked absolutely beautiful! I love the way she wore her hair, her dramatic eye makeup, baby pink lips and glowy skin!

When doing my makeup this morning, I was inspired by this look! Though I am nowhere near as tanned as Christina, I tried to go for a more bronze, glowy look on the skin. I used a really bright pink blush as well! For the lips, I used my favourite lip gloss, NARS Turkish Delight. And for the eyes, I went dramatic and dark, like Christina, and tried to play up the lashes as much as I could!

I love finding random inspiration for an every day makeup look! Next on my to do list? Find inspiration for a completely unwearable look, and get creative!

i just came to say hello.

There is nothing better than receiving a bag from Sephora! For my birthday a few weeks ago, my sister handed me that signature black bag. Inside, was the Say Hello Palette from the Hello Kitty collection! I was super excited about this, because I love Hello Kitty and had been wanting to try something from the makeup line for a while. I have been trying this out for the last little bit - here are my thoughts!

Sugar Plum, Sweet Plum, Raindrop, Goodnight Dreams.

I love these colours! The second purple shade and the gray are both really pretty! The colours in this palette are very soft and girly, but the gray and black help add some drama to them! Sweet Plum is my favourite of the colours, for sure! It has a nice shimmer to it, as does the black shade. The eyeshadows aren't overly pigmented, but are good quality - very soft!
Snowflake, Strawberry Cookie, Pink Confetti, Sweet Plum.

I tried to do swatches of the lip glosses, but they all looked essentially the same! They look really cute in the packaging, but are all just basic clear glosses. The Sweet Plum one is glittery though, which is quite cute. They smell really sweet though, which is a nice touch! These glosses are a bit on the sticky side, however. Not my favourite lip glosses in the world, but certainly a nice addition to the palette.

Overall, I really like this Hello Kitty palette, but I don't love it the way I hoped I would.
Have you tried anything from the Hello Kitty makeup line? What are your thoughts?

she lowered her lashes until they almost cuddled her cheeks.

When it comes to my makeup, I love a bit of drama. Which is why I adore false eyelashes. (I only wish I was better at putting them on!)

False eyelashes have been applied since the beginning of the 20th century. They were first used in the 1916 film, "Intolerance." The director wanted actress Seena Owen to have lashes that brushed her cheeks, in order to make her eyes appear bigger. They were originally created by a wig maker, who wove human hair through gauze. This was then gummed to Seena Owen's eyelids.

So there you have it - a brief history of false eyelashes! I personally just love the drama and fullness they add. Perfect for a night out! I am also so in love with the crazy dramatic lashes! They look beautiful in photographs!

What do you think of false eyelashes? Do you ever wear them?
