eat, drink and be scary.

Post trick or treating, my Halloween experiences were never very good. Plans always fell through, and I wound up disappointed and watching Halloween 4 by myself. So this year, I was determined to have a great Halloween. Even though things didn't entirely go as planned, I had a lot of fun!

I dressed up as a zombie bride on Saturday, and Hello Kitty on Sunday! I love getting dressed up....I almost wish it could be Halloween more often!

I hope you all had a great Halloween!

and nobody knows what's gonna happen tomorrow, so don't let go, now we've come this far.

Last night was one of those rare evenings where everything felt right in the world. I headed downtown to see Duran Duran in concert. Alone. When I bought the tickets, no one I knew wanted to go with me. Instead of missing out on seeing them AGAIN, I just went for it and bought a single ticket.

Before the show, and after the opening act, I just read a book and waited! It was kind of lovely. And then I saw Duran Duran perform live. After watching the concert DVD endlessly, I finally was seeing Simon Le Bon IN REAL LIFE. It was such a thrilling experience.

The concert itself was fantastic. The set list was great, and Duran Duran put on one heck of a show. But what I loved most about the evening, was the fact that I let go. Instead of worrying about what other people thought, I just let myself get carried away by the music. It felt like being on top of the world. Even thinking of now, I can't help but smile to myself.

Anyway! Here is what I wore to the concert last night!

Also, Miss L posted a cute this or that tag on her blog recently! I thought it was fun, so here are my answers! I tag anyone who wants to do it!

love it or leave it?

The always beautiful Emma Roberts wore this last week at an event. I was immediately struck by this outfit. I love the sheer black collar mixed with that gorgeous metallic dress! I think the combination is simply stunning! I only wish there had been a belt to break things up a bit. Her hair and makeup are flawless - simple and elegant, and they really allow the dress to be showcased.

What do you think of Emma's outfit? Love it or leave it?

the secret to staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly, and lie about your age.

My apologies that I have been neglecting blog stuff for the last few days - this weekend was my birthday weekend!

My birthday was actually yesterday, so I saw my boyfriend Saturday morning, then headed down to Toronto with a couple of my best friends. We got a hotel for the night and went out to a gay bar! It was so much fun. Then on Sunday, we did a family dinner. I am a twin, so we were celebrating two birthdays!

My actual birthday, yesterday, was a bit of a disaster. There were three cars parked directly across from our driveway and one at the curb in front of our house. My brother was trying to get out of the driveway and dinged one of the cars. Sigh. So, that kind of ruined our birthday! Such a frustrating situation when people have no respect and create the potential for that kind of situation. Anyway! I went to the Avril Lavigne concert last night, which was my birthday present from my parents!

Here are some of the pictures from my birthday weekend!

Before my birthday dinner:

And before the Avril concert (doing my best Avril pose!):

So that was my weekend! What did you do this weekend?

makeup tutorial: cassie blake (the secret circle)

Let me cut to the chase: "The Secret Circle" is awesome.

From the first episode, I have been hooked. It is quickly becoming one of my favourite new shows! Every episode I watch, I am always in love with main character, Cassie's makeup. It is simple, wearable, but so pretty. So, I decided to do a quick tutorial on it! This look is really easy to do, but very pretty!

Cassie's skin is always flawless. Definitely choose a foundation with a full coverage for this look! Remember to apply concealer wherever needed. Cassie doesn't tend to wear too much on the cheeks, but just a touch of bronzer or a warm blush on the apples of the cheeks will pull this look together! Also, the brows in this look are quite strong, so be sure to fill in your brows if needed!

Start with a neutral eyeshadow all over the lid, slightly darker than your skin colour. Then, taking a medium brown shade, apply in the outer corner and into the crease. With just a touch of a deeper brown shade, apply to the outer corner. Remember to blend everything to soften the look. Apply a thin line of eyeliner on the upper lash line. Lastly for the eyes, mascara! Her eyelashes are amazing, so definitely apply two coats on the upper lashes and one on the bottom lashes. You could even wear false lashes with this look if you want!

Lips are really the most important part of Cassie's look. She usually has a really beautiful berry coloured lip. So choose a lipstick in a berry tone and add some lip gloss over top.

The finished product:

As you can see, this look is so easy and wearable! Great for everyday! What do you think of the makeup and "The Secret Circle?"

new makeup post!

Over the last little while, I have been trying not to buy new makeup, except what I actually need....I think that lasted for about three days. The problem is that I love trying out new products. There is something beautiful in trying something out, falling in love, and adding it to your makeup collection. Here are some of the things I've been trying out recently!

The first, is this beautiful red TopShop eyeliner I won before I went away, from the In The Light Of Style giveaway! The eyeliner colour is a beautiful deep red - just gorgeous! The consistency is very creamy and easy to use. What I love most about this, is that it lasts well throughout the day. I hate having to worry about if my makeup needs touch ups, so this is perfect!

Secondly, I picked up a few things for Halloween this year! The Fantasy Makers cream eyeshadows are perfect for my costume! I haven't had a chance to try them all out properly yet, but there are some really great colours in this set. Lots of red, gold, black, and all of them with tons of shimmer! I also bought a fantastic set of false eyelashes for the occasion. They are really dramatic and fun! I am so excited to get all dressed up for Halloween this year!

Next, I decided to try Maybelline's Great Lash Lots of Lashes mascara because I heard some great things about it! I've been using it for the last week and it's a really great drugstore mascara. Mascara is something I usually splurge on, but this is a really good alternative. What I like about this, is that the colour is a really intense black, it dries quickly, and adds a lot of volume. The wand is a really interesting shape, and I find it works well on the upper lashes, but not the lower lashes. Overall, this is a really great mascara for the price!

I also picked up a new Rimmel quad. The colours are quite light, as you can see from the swatches. I chose this because I don't have a lot of really soft, pastel colours. This quad creates a really romantic and pretty look!

Lastly, I picked up Bonnebell's Gel Bronze, Sally's powder blush in Fawn, and Gosh's Shocking Coral lipstick.

The Gel Bronze is actually a really nice product. Since I bought it, I've been adding it over my foundation and it creates a really pretty, dewy, sun-kissed look! It has a subtle shimmer as well, which looks great on the skin!

I am IN LOVE with Sally's powder blush in Fawn. It is such a pretty, warm colour. The product is very pigmented, so it doesn't take much to really pull a look together! The colour is a really warm brown, with hints of pink. The texture is so silky and beautiful. I love this so much!

The Shocking Coral Gosh lipstick I ended up buying because I just fell in love with the colour. I've been looking for a coral with more pink than orange, to add to my collection, and this was perfect! I absolutely love the colour! It is really smooth on the lips and very pigmented! It is perfect for a bold, statement lip!

These are some of my latest makeup purchases. What have you been loving lately?

i have always wanted my colours to sing.

Victoria Justice is quickly becoming a fashion icon! I love her bold, feminine, red carpet style. At the Footloose premiere, she wore this absolutely stunning dress. I just love the colour combination and the cut-outs. This dress is mature, but still really fun and pretty!

I adore this dress. What do you think of it?

new nail polish and tag post.

Hi everyone, I hope your weekends went well! Mine was good and bad. I opened at work both days, so that wasn't great, but I also got to see some amazing people. Speaking of work, one of the things I hate the most, is that I'm not allowed to paint my nails. So when I went away, I was determined to make the most of this opportunity! I bought this really pretty greenish-blue colour. What do you think?

In other news, I was tagged by the amazing Mary and Dyer to write about my 5 Fall Goals! I actually had to stop and really think about these! Here is my list:

1. To find the time between work, blogging, my internship, and attempts at a social life, to continue work on editing my novel.

2. To be better with my money and actually think about what I'm buying instead of getting caught up in a moment.

3. To completely re-organize my room, closet, etc. (My life always feels more hectic and messy when my room is a disaster!)

4. To continue to focus on taking care of myself through exercise and eating better.

5. To keep in better contact with the people I care about, and to stop worrying so much about the people I don't.

Now it is my turn to tag 5 blogs. I tag....
Along Abbey Road
From Sarah With Joy
Awkward & Angelic
Anetes Domas
Dirty Pink Cardigan

Anyone I didn't tag, feel free to post this as well! I'm really curious about other people's fall goals!

music post: vacation edition!

I love British pop music. I don't know when it started exactly, but over the years, it has taken over my CD collection. (At least half of my CDs have been imported!) When I was in high school, there was this specialty channel that used to play episodes of Top Of The Pops. I remember on the first episode I watched, Gareth Gates was number one with "Anyone Of Us (Stupid Mistake)." I immediately fell in love, and scoured the room for a pen so I could write down his name. After the show ended, I Googled him and imported every single he had released.

There are so many bands and artists I have fallen in love with over the years. I still love them just as much today! British pop music is a big part of my musical life. On my trip to London, I picked up some CDs that were missing from my collection. I also managed to make a couple of my fangirl dreams come true.

Fangirl Dream #1: Meet Shayne Ward

I have loved Shayne Ward since he was on X-Factor. I own all of his CDs, and even his book! I adore him. He has a range like no other, and this beautiful soulful voice. Also, he is ridiculously gorgeous.

Shayne is currently playing Stacee Jaxx in "Rock of Ages" in London. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford tickets to the show, but I did manage to meet him afterward! There were a couple of girls waiting for him as well, who were quite lovely!

When he came out from the stage door, he started talking to the two other girls, then saw me with my CD booklet in hand, and told them he'd be right back. He was so sweet, took a picture with me, signed my CD booklet, and kissed me on the cheek! I was over the moon. I literally skipped back to the hotel.

Fangirl Dream #2: See Charlie Simpson Play Live

Okay, so I LOVE Busted. I was devastated when they broke up! They remain one of my absolute favourite bands. Charlie was always my favourite member, and I have followed his career over the years. I found out shortly before I left that he was going to be a part of Station Sessions at St. Pancras International Station, where he would play a free gig in the middle of the train station!

I showed up far too early and was the first person there. But hey, I was front row, so it worked out alright! Charlie and his band played a bunch of songs from his new album. It was AMAZING. I kept having these moments where I became so overwhelmed that it was actually happening. I never ever thought I would be able to see Charlie Simpson in real life. It was a huge deal. I am so thankful that I was able to be there when this was happening. Dream come true!

So there you have it! My fangirlish ways are exposed. My trip was amazing for so many reasons, and the music was definitely a big part of that.

What is your favourite kind of music?

shopping haul: vacation edition!

Since returning home, I never seem to have enough time to get things done! Which is why it has taken me a bit of time to get this posted. My apologies!

Coming home from London/Paris, my suitcase was heavy. It was way over the weight limit, but they let it slide, thank goodness! Shopping in London is just the greatest thing ever. I bought a fair amount of new clothes, and a bunch of new shoes! They are from various places, but mostly New Look, Primark (love love love), TopShop and Forever21. Here are some of the things I picked up while I was away!

No wonder my suitcase was so heavy! I am really looking forward to wearing all of these in the near future!

vacation pictures!

As you all know, I recently got back from visiting London and Paris! Since getting back to Canada, I have been trying to catch up on a million different things - the price of going away! I have a lot to share about my trip, which I will do throughout the week. But to start with, here are some of the pictures I took!

We spent a week in London, where I did an awful lot of shopping. I've been to London many times before, so most of the tourist stuff, I had already done. Basically, I shopped, went to Kensington Gardens, Camden Town, and went and saw a couple of British singers that I love. (More on that in another post!) The weather was lovely and sunny, which was great!

After London, we took the train to Paris! We could only be there for three days, unfortunately, so there wasn't a whole lot of time to see things. (My family is a Disney family, so we spent two of those days in Disneyland Paris!) The weather in Paris was awful, unfortunately. It rained on and off the first day, was absolutely freezing cold the second day, and poured rain on the third. Despite this, we had a great time! Paris is so beautiful!

I had a wonderful vacation that ended too soon! (Don't they always?) I'll be posting my shopping haul and about my British music obsession, soon!

Hope you are all having a good week so far!
