the world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.

Very early tomorrow morning, I am heading to the airport to fly to London, England. London is my favourite place in the entire world. I have been fortunate enough to have traveled there four times before, but I have really been looking forward to this trip. I will be spending a week in London, and then three days in Paris. I am really excited to go to Paris, as I have never been before!

I love traveling. So far in my life, I've been able to do a fair amount of it. It seems that every time I save up a bit of money, I'm spending it on a trip somewhere! It's worth it though!

This post is just to let you all know that I won't be blogging for the next week and a half. (This seems like ages in blog years...) But rest assured, when I return, it'll be posting and commenting as usual!

Do you love traveling? What is your favourite place to visit?

kiss goodbye summer.

I have been avoiding the end of summer as much as possible. Despite the fact that it is nearly October (how did that happen??), I am still struggling with accepting the changing season. As a way to get myself to accept that it is fall, this post is all about fall inspirations.

There are a lot of big things coming up for me in October. I am traveling, have exciting plans made with good friends, my birthday is at the end of the month, and then of course there is Halloween! I am optimistic.

One positive about the new season, is being able to play with different makeup. I recently picked up the "Knock On Wood" trio by Wet n' Wild. I don't typically buy a lot of Wet n' Wild, but I fell in love with the colours. I especially love the lid colour, it is almost cranberry. What do you think?

I have also been very inspired by this picture. It sums up fall makeup perfectly.

Other fall inspirations? Coats! I love the range of colours and the trench-inspired look.

I am currently having a love affair with knitwear, but I am still looking for the perfect pieces....any suggestions?

As for dresses, these two have been inspiring me a lot lately. I love the bold colour of the first dress, but the second outfit is my personal favourite - classic and sophisticated.

Lastly, these are the fall accessories I am craving - a colourful boot, a pretty pair of gloves, and the perfect knit hat.

So there you have it! These are the things I am loving at the moment. Hopefully these fall inspirations will motivate me to let go of the summer!

Also, to anyone who has given me a blog award in the last little while, thank you so very much! It means the world to me.

What fall trends are you loving?

everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it.

I love writing about makeup. Which is why this post is a makeup look of the day and a foundation review!

Makeup Look Of The Day:
While getting ready to go out yesterday, I was able to take my time and play around with my makeup a bit. I ended up doing a gray smokey eye with a pink/purple lip colour. What do you think?

Foundation Review:
In the past few months, I have been trying out a couple of different foundations, trying to find 'the' foundation for me. I really love the Revlon ColorStay Foundation in the winter time, as they have a formula for dry skin. This summer, I tried out another foundation by Maybelline and Cover Girl Nature Luxe (the latter I am a big fan of, and will probably buy again!)

Recently, I picked up Rimmel's Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation in Ivory.

I bought the lightest colour, which is actually a tad dark for me still. (Gosh, I'm pale!) But it actually looks nice and dewy on the skin. The consistency is a bit runnier than I typically look for, however. On the plus side, the foundation really does last quite well and looks natural and nice on the skin. So far, I am quite liking this foundation for times when I really need my foundation to last.

What is your favourite foundation?

love and hate.

Lourdes Leon and Kelly Osbourne at the Material Girls 1st Birthday Party:
Both girls look beautiful, put together, and fashion forward.

Nicola Roberts at GAY:
She looks like an absolute train wreck, from that braid to the pom-poms on her backside. Too much of everything!

What do you think of these looks? I hope you all are having a great weekend!

a little bit of everything.

Tonight, I went to dinner and saw Moneyball with a friend. It was a nice, relaxed evening. The movie was pretty good too, so that was good! For my outfit, I went very casual, with a loose-fitting ruffled blouse, and a pair of grey skinny jeans. Nothing fancy! I attempted to take a couple of outfit shots before leaving.

Top: Antilia Femme Jeans: Max Azria Bracelet: Ardene

Also...when I was in Montreal, I had the chance to do a bit of shopping. As it turns out, I only ended up buying stuff from Forever 21. Story of my life! This is my mini-shopping haul!

I got a gorgeous strapless dress (that looks amazing on. I am totally in love with it!), a lace cardigan, and a pair of leopard print leggings. Everything in the store was so pretty!

And then I bought a ton of accessories! Forever 21 has the best accessories, hands down! I picked up a key necklace, a pair of floral printed feather earrings, a chunky silver bracelet, a black plastic bracelet, super cute bunny earrings, and a pair of kick-ass robot earrings!

Basically: I love shopping.

And lastly, the article I wrote about the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit is up, so you can read that here if you are interested!

What are your plans for the weekend?

hairstyle tribute: the bun!

My hair has started to grow out, and I don't have a hair appointment scheduled until next week. As a result, my go-to hairstyle lately has been a bun! It is chic, cute, and really simple. I usually braid the sides and tuck them into the bun, or tease my bangs and create a little pouf on the top of my head. I love that with such a simple style, there are still so many options!

it's always the badly dressed people who are the most interesting.

Yesterday, my mom and I traveled to Montreal to see "The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk" at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. It was a long day - five hours on the train each way - but definitely a great experience. The exhibit was truly beautiful. It was amazing to see Jean Paul Gaultier's couture designs up close and personal! Completely overwhelming!

Here are some of my photos from the trip, and a few of my favourite designs from the exhibit. (My personal favourite is the second last photo, the dress with an animal pelt made up entirely of beading. Stunning!)

Any favourites? What do you think of Jean Paul Gaultier's work?

mini-makeup tutorial: britney spears

Today, I decided to recreate a Britney Spears makeup look! I immediately fell in love with this look, from the dress Britney wore, (the colour!) and her flawless makeup. I love that it ties in the colour of the dress, but doesn't look too matchy-matchy.

It was a really simple look, with glowy skin, lots of blush (which you know by now, that I love), some eyeliner, lots of mascara and green shadow. I applied a light shimmery green shadow on the lid, and ran it under the lower lash line as well. Then, I used a darker green shade in the crease, and ran that under the lower lash line as well.

So easy! It's great for nighttime, but still really fun!

Here was my end result:

In other random news, tomorrow I am heading to Montreal to see "The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk" at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Super excited, even if it does mean hours and hours on the train! Hopefully it'll be worth it!

What did you think of Britney's makeup look?

my top five: emmy's red carpet.

The best part of any award show is the red carpet. It's always fun to see the best (and worst!) dressed stars as they make their way to the event. Here is who I was loving at this years awards!

5) Aimee Teegarden: Friday Night Lights.

This look is classic and sweet, but still a little bit flirty! I love the exposed leg detail and the way the fabric drapes. Also, the one-shoulder, waist detail, elegant clutch, and perfect hair and makeup make this look totally elegant and feminine.

4) Jayma Mays: Glee

This dress is completely my style! Super girly, frilly, feminine, and pink! - all things I adore in a dress. I love all of the details, especially at the top - it is so pretty. I am also really loving Jayma's lip colour. It adds perfectly to this sweet, feminine look!

3) Kelly Osbourne: Fashion Police

What don't I love about this? I mean, really. Kelly just knocked it out of the park. This colour is absolutely stunning on her. It fits her perfectly, and the strap details? Flawless. Also, her accessories were very well selected. Not too flashy, but still noticeable. This outfit it sophisticated and simply gorgeous.

2) Claire Danes: Homeland

I struggled to choose between this dress and my top choice, because I just adore this ensemble. The colours in particular, look incredible on Claire. I love the details and pattern of the dress. The shape itself is simple, which works perfectly as it keeps the details from becoming overwhelming. The accessories are very simple as well. The dress really speaks for itself, and it works! I also am a big fan of her makeup. I love the pop of colour the red lip adds. This outfit is absolutely incredible.

1) Nina Dobrev: The Vampire Diaries

Flawless!! The colour, the shape, the fit, the accessories, the hair, the train.... One look at this photograph says it all - Nina ruled the red carpet. She looks perfect. This outfit completely captures drama, sophistication, class, and fun. Just, beautiful.

What were your favourite red carpet moments at the Emmy's this year?

blushing is the color of virtue.

There is something bewitching about blush. I love the way it can completely pull together a makeup look, or change it from day to night with a few simple sweeps across the cheeks. With each shade, are endless possibilities.

It is only in the last couple of years I really started wearing blush. Previously, I owned one neutral colour I wore only on occasion. As my love for makeup has grown over the years, so has my appreciation for blush! As it is now, I have a bit of an obsession. I own a lot of different shades by a lot of different brands, and I am always willing to try out a new blush colour!

This is my blush collection thus far, along with my thoughts (good and bad!) on each of them. I tried to do swatches, but the colours are obviously fairly light, so they didn't turn out well and I chose not to include them. I apologize!

Sephora Colorista Palette Blushes
These blushes came in the Sephora Colorista Palette, and they are really fun to use! 1 is a really soft, natural pink. 2 is a super sparkly satin peach colour that I absolutely adore. It really adds a lot of glamour to a look! Lastly, 3 is a more toned-down version of the satin peach colour. Less sparkle, more shimmer, with hints of brown tones. Also really pretty! The blushes (and bronzers!) in this palette are all really fun to play with!

Almay in Blushing Pink
This was my first blush! Aww, memories. I don't use it too much now, but it is definitely a good blush for something really warm-toned, but natural looking. It is a pretty rosy-pink colour. Definitely good to have!

Joe in Bloom
This is one of my favourite blushes. It is PINK. I mean, BRIGHT pink. Great to add a bit of flirty drama to a look, or just kick things up a notch! This is just a really fun blush. It isn't overly pigmented, so the colour builds up really nicely.

Hard Candy Baked Blush in Honeymoon
I mentioned this blush in my last makeup haul post. I still adore it. I have been wearing this one to work a lot since I bought it! It's not too dramatic, but not too subtle either. And again, it gives such a beautiful glow to the skin! It is terrific!

NARS in Deep Throat
This is my favourite blush. Ever. In the entire world. I cannot even express the amount that I am in love with it. The colour is a beautiful warm tone, rosy with goldish tones in it, with a touch of shimmer. The quality is amazing, obviously, because it's NARS! Perfectly pigmented as well. Beautiful colour, beautiful product! I am madly in love with it.

Cover Girl Instant Cheekbones Contouring Blush
I picked this one up fairly recently, so I haven't tried it out too many times yet. The first colour is a really deep coraly colour which I adore, but it is a bit too dark for me. I like to mix a bit of that with the second colour, for a bit of drama that doesn't make me look like a train wreck! The third colour is a really pretty pale pink. There are a lot of options in this blush trio, and I am excited to really give them a try!

Maybelline New York Dream Mousse Blush in Pink Frosting and Peach Satin
I adore these mousse blushes! I get really dry skin, especially in the winter, so these work perfectly for me. They tend to get a lot of use in the colder months! 1 is the Pink Frosting colour, which is a nice, vibrant pink! I love it! It adds a beautiful pop of colour. 2 is Peach Satin, which is a warm, peachy tone - perfect for daytime looks. I highly recommend the dream mousse blushes!

And lastly.....

Wet n' Wild Color Icon in Berry Shimmer
This is one dramatic blush! I was intrigued by the deep berry colour and since Wet n' Wild is very inexpensive, I thought it would be a good way to test the colour on me. This blush is very pigmented, so when I am feeling extra glamorous, I tap my brush lightly in, tap off excess a few times and very lightly start applying the colour just to the apples of my cheeks. A little goes a very long way. This is a very dramatic, but very pretty blush shade. Definitely not for every day though!

So that is my blush collection thus far. I have been eyeballing a bunch of different NARS shades, and a couple of ELF ones as well.....

What is your all-time favourite blush?
