september shows us how beautiful it is to let things go.

It's the most wonderful time of the year. Okay, it isn't the holiday season yet, but the first of the "ber" months (September, October, November, and December) has finally arrived. I could not be more thrilled. Though summer is still holding strong with warm weather and sunshine, it does my heart good to know that sweater weather and brightly coloured leaves are just around the corner. Fall is such a special time of year - and my appreciation for it continues to grow as time passes. I love the cooler temperatures, the grey overcast days, cozy blankets, and pumpkin spice everything. To welcome in the month of September properly, this post is dedicated to some seasonal affirmations and tag questions. Make it a September to remember...

Affirmations for September. Sometimes, it is nice to start the month off on the right foot with some positive affirmations. The "ber" months tend to make me happier overall (there are seasonal decorations to enjoy and pumpkin scented candles to light), but an extra dose of positivity never hurts. On that note, here are a few seasonal affirmations to repeat this month.

  • September will be a wonderful month full of peace and ease. I allow myself to be excited about the season ahead.
  • I love this time of year and that love is reflected in everything that I do.
  • I am happy and hopeful about what the month of September will bring. I look forward to the future.
  • This is a time where my creativity flourishes. I will achieve my goals and express myself in fun and exciting ways.
  • I am ready for the fresh start that a new season brings. I am willing to let go of what no longer serves me.

Another way that I am welcoming September is by answering some autumn tag questions. Even though the first official day of fall is September 22nd, as soon as the "ber" month arrives, my mind shifts to all things fall. I am very ready to put out some seasonal decor pieces and check the grocery store for pumpkin spice flavoured treats. So, without further ado, here are my answers to the autumn tag questions. Be sure to share your own answers in the comment section below or elsewhere.

  • Favourite thing about autumn? The colours. I love the contrast of the cool grey sky and the warm coloured leaves scattered on the ground. There is something so beautiful about the colours associated with this time of year.
  • Spooky autumn or cozy autumn? A bit of both. Usually, the month of September is spent in full cozy autumn mode, with harvest themed decorations and fuzzy blankets. Once October arrives, then it is spooky season for me and I am busy decorating for Halloween, wearing Hocus Pocus pajamas to bed, and watching horror movies.
  • Haunted house or Halloween party? Is it weird to say neither? Haunted houses have always freaked me out (when I was a kid, there were times that I had to be escorted out of them because I was so afraid) and parties are not really my idea of a good time anymore. I celebrate spooky season with movies and holiday decorations.
  • Carve pumpkins or paint pumpkins? Definitely carve pumpkins, but it has been a few years since my husband and I have done that. We used to carve all sorts of different designs. Who knows? Maybe this year...
  • Go apple picking or go on a hay ride? I don't think that I have done either, but I love the idea of fall activities.
  • Pumpkin spice lattes or mulled apple cider? I don't like either, but I do like pumpkin spice flavoured items in general, so I would choose pumpkin spice lattes over mulled apple cider.
  • What did you dress up as for Halloween last year? Last year, I dressed as Miss Piggy! I still haven't decided what I will be this year. For my at-home celebration (which involves movies and junk food) I will be wearing an outfit inspired by Grace from In The Fire, but I haven't decided what my costume will be for Halloween with my family.
  • Falling rain or a crackling fireplace? I love both! Often, there are background videos playing in my home of either falling rain sounds or a crackling fireplace, so clearly these are high on my list of loves.
  • Have you purchased any fall decor yet? I am trying to be more thoughtful about my purchases (though it is difficult and I slip sometimes) so my intention is to use the decor that I have already rather than adding more. Seasonal decorations are so tempting, so while I don't know if I will be successful, an attempt is being made.
  • Favourite photo that you took last fall? This question made me realize that I did not take enough photos last fall...or last year. I want to be more mindful about capturing little moments. that happen
  • Favourite autumn themed movie? When I think of autumn, I tend to think of the Gilmore Girls, because it is cozy, scenic, and familiar. As for movies, this time of year is all about spooky vibes. I watch a lot of Halloween themed cartoons and movies (like Lumpkin the Pumpkin, Casper, and Halloweentown) as well as horror films.
  • Favourite colour to wear in autumn? Warm colours are definitely the favourites: burnt orange and burgundy.
  • Favourite autumn themed book? I have a stack full of autumn/Halloween themed books that I will be sharing here on the creation of beauty is art. shortly. There are all sorts of seasonal books on my reading list.
  • Best way to spend a rainy day? Curled up with a good book and a pumpkin scented candle.
  • Favourite autumn food? Pumpkin spice cereal, cookies, and other goodies. Yum!
  • Favourite autumn quote? "Autumn, the season that teaches us change can be beautiful."
  • Favourite autumn leaf? I love all the leaves when they change colour, but especially love that warm red colour.
  • Favourite autumn activity? Walks in the cool fall air and a cozy afternoon reading.
  • Favourite autumn scent? Pumpkin everything. I love pumpkin scented candles so much!
  • Is your birthday in autumn? It is. Another reason that fall has always felt special to me.

September is here...and my hope is that the month is wonderful for everyone. Here is to the start of the "ber" months.

Are you excited about September? What is your favourite time of year?
