Black nail polish, a worn out My Chemical Romance hoodie, and tens of thousands of fans. Ahh...bliss. Right before my husband and I went to join my family at a rented cottage, we spent the evening seeing one of my all-time favourite bands: My Chemical Romance. I first started listening to them back in my university days and have been a huge fan ever since. When the Long Live The Black Parade tour was first announced, it was a no brainer to look into concert tickets. Though the prices were high (thanks to dynamic pricing), the decision was made to treat myself to a set of terrible seats in an absolutely massive venue. Logical? Perhaps not, but The Black Parade is my favourite album from MCR, and all logic seemed to disappear. Was it worth the price? Did the show meet my expectations? Keep reading for a mini concert review and makeup look.
I wanted the concert to be amazing. This was the most that I had ever spent on such terrible concert tickets (we were about as high up as it was possible to be in this ginormous venue) and it was because I wanted to be there so desperately. I have seen My Chemical Romance in the past as well as a Gerard Way solo show - and those experiences were overwhelmingly positive. At those shows, I remember feeling free. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case this time around. We were so high up that it legitimately triggered my fear of heights. I was terrified whenever someone stood up, climbed up and down the stairs, or needed to leave their seat. It wasn't exactly logical, but the height really impacted me. It was hard to get out of my head and enjoy the show. My sweet husband offered to purchase some better seats lower down (for a much lower price than I paid for the terrible seats...stupid dynamic pricing) but the seats we were in had already cost so much that I was determined to sit in them. The setlist itself was fantastic, with the band playing The Black Parade in full and then playing a shorter set on a smaller stage with some other songs from their discography. Unfortunately, it was the venue issues that detracted from my overall experience. Not only were our seats high, but the sound was not good and it echoed terribly. The line for merchandise was also at least 100 people deep at all times. Was it the life changing concert that I wanted it to be? No. But I am still grateful that I was able to see one of my favourite bands at least one more time. I also had an excuse to wear some of my favourite MCR merch and have fun with my makeup. Below is the makeup look that I wore to the My Chemical Romance concert.
There were elements of the concert that I did not love (the height, the dynamic ticket pricing, the echoing sound) but I am still extremely grateful that I was able to hear my favourite My Chemical Romance album in full one more time.
Have you been to any concerts lately? Are there any on your calendar?
Boa tarde. Passando para agradecer sua visita e comentário. Grande abraço carioca.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry that the venue issues detracted from your enjoyment of the concert, Shannon. Being a fellow sufferer from vertigo, I wouldn't have felt comfortable that high up either ...
ReplyDeleteYour makeup is sublime and very fitting for My Chemical Romance! I haven't been to a concert for absolutely ages! xxx
