It is always interesting to see what colours will be popular when a new season rolls around. During a trip to a nearby shopping mall recently, there were all sorts of burgundy pieces lining store windows. From fast fashion to higher end brands, there was burgundy all over the place. I can understand why. It is a beautiful colour that fits in well with the fall season. Given the popularity of this colour, it seemed only right to look through my makeup collection and create a #FOTD that highlighted this warm seasonal shade. Ready to take a look? Here is a #FOTD featuring some items from my makeup collection.
When it came time to choose products to create a burgundy makeup look, it was the
It's The Word Shadow Palette from the Grease x Revolution collection that stood out. This palette has lots of different shades of pink, red, and purple, so I knew it would be possible to create a warm burgundy kind of makeup look. As for the other products, it was a warm neutral blush shade in Soft Apricot from Laritzy Cosmetics and a cool toned lipstick from the Sephora Collection for a bit of contrast.
To create this burgundy makeup look, there were several eyeshadows used from the It's The Word Shadow Palette. I chose to concentrate the colour instead of blending it out. The idea was to create a look that was a little bit bolder. Less soft and more daring. The shades Electrifying and So Adolescent were applied to the lid to create that rich burgundy colour. A bit of the pink shade, Sassy was used along the edges, and then the white shadow, Feel Good was applied to the inner corner and the brow bone. Some eyeliner and mascara finished off the eyes. Then some of the Soft Apricot blush was added to the cheeks for a look that was warm, but not too distracting from everything else that was going on. Last was the
Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Pretty Beige (which I went to reorder but sadly looks to be discontinued. Isn't that always the way? Whenever there is an interesting colour or product, it doesn't seem to last long...) on the lips to contrast the warmer colours with something cool toned.
Adding some burgundy into your next makeup look, nail look, or outfit is a great way to embrace this seasonal trend.
Will you embrace burgundy this fall? What do you think of this #FOTD?
