current favourite scents (perfumes and body mists)

Truth be told, life has felt a little dark lately. In fact, the whole world has felt a little dark lately. World events, election results, and an uncertain future that stretches out in front of us all...it is a lot to take in. Some days, my solution is to bury my head in the sand and re-watch comfort shows in bed. Other days, my brain is in overdrive, trying to plan and organize and push back wherever possible. I seem to sway between the two extremes over and over again. It is exhausting. I am exhausted. It is hard to hold onto hope in such a broken society. Despite the difficulty, I am still trying. I am doing what I can to focus on gratitude. I am holding my loved ones a little tighter. And I am using scents to calm my anxious mind. On that note, here are my current favourite scents. Some are perfumes and some are body mists, but each one makes this dark world a little more beautiful.

Wonderstruck by Taylor Swift and R.E.M. by Ariana Grande. I am no stranger to celebrity perfumes. The first one I ever received was Still by Jennifer Lopez. (My dad bought it for me one day when we were out and about for no reason at all. I felt like a million dollars that day...and still feel the same when I reach for that perfume now.) Since then, all sorts have been added to my collection. One example is Wonderstruck by Taylor Swift. I'm not sure how long I have had this, but I first wrote about it on the creation of beauty is art. in a favourites post way back in 2013. Not only is the bottle beautiful, with the dazzling finish and charms, but the scent is incredible. It has been a favourite for so many years now. Wonderstruck is warm and comforting. It is a standout scent that can be work day or night. The other favourite pictured is R.E.M. by Ariana Grande. I had a couple of mini bottles of R.E.M. that I finished recently, so now it is onto the full-sized bottle. This has a fabulous bottle holder and an even better scent. It is sweet and warm. Both of these perfumes have been in heavy rotation in the last few months.

Dream Angel by Victoria's Secret and Cashmere Mittens by Aeropostale. Now for a couple of body mists and sprays that have been much loved lately. The first is Dream Angel from Victoria's Secret, which is bright and fruity. I bought this mist a couple of years back when it was on sale, but sadly, this version is no longer available and seems to have been replaced with Heavenly Dream Angel. I'm not certain what the difference is between the two, but I am pleased that this Dream Angel fragrance mist remains in my collection. It is a quick and easy pick-me-up. The last favourite to highlight is from a recent Aeropostale set that was purchased around the holiday season. It was part of the Frozen Favorites collection with four body mists. Though all are outstanding, it is Cashmere Mittens that has won my heart.  Like all of the scents on this list, it is warm and comforting. (And the bottle is downright adorable!) I like to spray it on myself, in the room that I am working in, and all around my home.

Thankfully, there are different ways to dull the hurt and ache that has been accompanying life lately. Whether that means taking a break from social media or reaching for a beloved perfume...I'll keep trying to let the light in. I hope you will, too.

Do you have any current favourites? What perfume have you been reaching for lately?

  1. I've never tried any of these perfumes, but I'd like to, especially the Taylor Swift and Victorias Secret ones!
I tend to keep on with the same fragrance for eras, so basically my fav perfumes are just 3 Miss Dior (it went viral when I was a teenager and I wore for years but now don't like it so much anymore), Signorina by Salvatore Ferragamo and Chanel Mademoiselle that I actually keep on using both depend on my mood.

  4. I hear you, Shannon:( Can you believe it's only the beginning of March? The beginning of this year has definitely been a doozy, and not in a good way.
Thank you for sharing these faves. I really must try that Ariana Grande one! I haven't been wearing much perfume lately, but when I do, it's my old Tommy Hilfiger one that I've had for forever.
