Makeup reflects words unspoken. It has meaning. I initially fell in love with makeup, because it was somehow able to say all of the things I could not speak aloud. These days, makeup continues to be a form of self expression. The colours, finishes, and products that I choose on any given day are intentional. Recently, it was the NYX Ultimate Shadow Palette in Warm Neutrals that was the right choice. There were some dark and dramatic neutrals calling my name. Ready to take a closer look at this neutral eyeshadow palette from NYX and a recent #FOTD? Keep reading for a mini review and makeup look.
The NYX Ultimate Shadow Palette in Warm Neutrals has sixteen eyeshadow shades in total. Though the palette is fairly compact in size (it would be a good one for travel) there is a lot to choose from. I like that there is a combination of shimmer and matte shades in this palette in a variety of colours. Though I am normally a shimmer kind of person, it is the matte shades that really speak to me here. There is a matte taupe and some dark burgundy colours. The bottom half of the palette is definitely the most interesting - though it is always nice to have lighter colours for blending and to create contrast.
When it comes to the quality of this NYX eyeshadow palette, it is fairly impressive. Each shade has a nice amount of pigmentation, which makes it easy to create a lot of different looks. The shadows blend well and both the matte and shimmers stand out. Sadly, there are no eyeshadow shade names provided, but the eyeshadows are numbered on the back. My favourites are 10, 12, and 16. Those are primarily the eyeshadows that were used to create this recent #FOTD...
As mentioned earlier, the matte shadows are the ones that really stand out to me in this eyeshadow palette. There is just something about those warm burgundy kind of colours that I love. Both 10 and 12 were used on the lid and then a bit of 16 was used for contrast. The light cream eyeshadow (3) was used to blend everything out. I liked the dark and smokey eyeshadow look and paired it with the Team Jacob lip oil from the ColourPop x Twilight collection to create something that was darker and maybe even a little mysterious. Honestly? It was fun to express myself with the NYX eyeshadow palette.
