#FOTD: st patrick's day inspired makeup

Tomorrow is the day....St Patrick's Day to be exact. In the past, my St Patrick's Day experiences included bars, restaurants, and movie nights. These days, it is a lot more low key. There are a few seasonal decorations scattered around the living room and there might be a drink or two at home tomorrow. Nothing wild or crazy! Even though my background is Irish, St. Patrick's Day wasn't something that was celebrated in my home growing up. It was just a day to wear green. In fact, it wasn't until one of my friends wanted to go out one year that it became something of a tradition. This holiday has felt special since then. It helps that my husband and I met on St. Patrick's Day about twelve years ago.  Yes, this is certainly a sentimental day for me. To celebrate the holiday, it only made sense to create a St. Patrick's Day inspired makeup look. Of course, there is lots and lots of green and a few newer makeup products thrown into the mix. Ready to take a peek? Here is a holiday themed #FOTD.

As you can see from the photo above, there were a handful of product used to create this St. Patrick's Day #FOTD. That included the Kim Chi Chic Beauty High Key Gloss in Natural, Revlon Galaxy Dream Holographic Highlighting Palette, Tarte Gilded Glamour Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Wardrobe in Glamour, Rude Cosmetics x Koi Footwear Boots Collection Palette, and the Too Faced Christmas In Rome Face Palette. It was a mixture of new beauty items and slightly less new items.

To create this St. Patrick's Day inspired makeup look, there needed to be lots and lots of green. So, it all started with the Glamour Eyeshadow Palette from Tarte. The forest green shade, Graphic, was applied all over the lid. Then the neon green shade, Slime, from the Rude Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palette was applied to the inner corner and was blended upwards. A deep green with gold glitter was applied through the crease. (Steel from the Tarte palette.) On the lower lash line, it was Noire (a matte black) from the Tarte palette and a little bit more of the shade Slime. On the cheeks, Christmas Cannoli from Too Faced was applied and then the green holographic highlight from the Revlon palette was layered on top. To finish off the look, it was the Kim Chi Chic Beauty High Key Gloss in Natural. The warm brown really allowed the different shades of green to stand out.

This St. Patrick's Day #FOTD was a lot of fun to create. To be honest, this eyeshadow look was a bit different for me. I really wanted to make use of that neon green shade. It was so vibrant and fun. Definitely a great way to do incorporate colour. The contrast between that bright green and the deeper shades of green created something really bold. Unfortunately, the green highlight didn't appear in the photos, but in person, it added such a wonderful and unexpected pop of colour. The High Key Gloss was the perfect neutral to balance it all out. Fingers crossed that I will be able to create another fun St. Patrick's Day inspired look tomorrow for the actual holiday. However you are celebrating, I hope your day is wonderful...and green!

How will you be celebrating St. Patrick's Day? What do you think of this #FOTD?

  4. How lovely that you met your husband on St. Patrick's Day! If that isn't a reason to celebrate, that I don't know what is.
It's not really a festive occasion here in Belgium, although some people do celebrate it, mostly by going out and getting drunk :-)
I'm loving the St. Patrick's Day make-up you created. I've often tried green eyeshadow but for some reason it never works out the way I've got it in my mind's eye! I definitely lack your talent! xxx
