fashion inspiration: end of summer style

How is it already the end of August? Somehow, time has been passing even faster than it usually does. It's hard to believe there are only a few weeks left until the official end of summer. In a different year, these last few weeks would be jam-packed with fun seasonal events. There would be concerts, trips to the CNE, and backyard barbecues with friends and family. Not this year. Everything in 2020 has either been paused or muted. Instead of allowing that to make me sad...I've decided to celebrate all things summer. While it may not include cotton candy and rollercoasters, it can include fashion. Lately, my focus has been on putting together lots of seasonally inspired ensembles. Both in real life and from the comfort of my computer. From warm golden makeup to dainty layered accessories and colourful sundresses, there are so many ways to embrace and enjoy the last days of summer. Here is one seasonal outfit to brighten your day.

Everything about the mood board above screams summer. I wanted to create something that had the absolute best elements of this time of year. Of course, that included a sunflower print dress. Few things are as exciting to me as a whimsical sundress. Not only are they weather appropriate but they just have a way of making you feel good. I love the buttons down the front of that dress in particular. This is a trend that has been seen on more and more pieces lately - and I love it. Such a fun retro inspired detail. As for the makeup chosen for this particular look? It was all about fresh, glowing skin, and gorgeous pops of colour. The blue and green are unexpected and will add extra interest to this end of summer look.

Now to finish it all off with some thoughtful accessories. Lately, I have really been loving delicate jewellery. From dainty earrings to lots of small rings and stunning layered necklaces...I love them all. The layered gold necklaces pictured above are simple but still stand out. Then the final piece of the end of summer look? A rectangular wicker purse. It just screams summertime. The unique shape and the bow tied to the strap adds to the overall look. I love the combination of seasonal staples and bold accents. It all comes together to create something beautiful and oh-so-summery.

Though it's hard to believe summer will soon come to a close...there are still plenty of opportunities to have fun with fashion. From fabulous sundresses to layered necklaces and everything in between. There are no limits to the kinds of looks you can create. Have fun and make the most of this time.

How will you make the most of the remaining summer days? What do you think of this look?
