In memory of Davy Jones, 1945-2012

I remember sitting next to my older sister at a Davy Jones concert. Her eyes were bright and focused, and her smile genuine. I had never seen her so happy. My sister and I have never had much in common, but in this moment, we understood each other.

When I heard of Davy Jones' death on Wednesday, my first instinct was to talk to my sister. Not only do I mourn the death of an iconic singer who has brought so much joy to my life, but I mourn the loss of that connection between my sister and I.

There may not be any more Davy Jones concerts in our future, but we will always share the memory of that beautiful day. 

But today, there is no day or night

Today, there is no dark or light

Today, there is no black or white

Only shades of gray.
