simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.


Nothing is more elegant than a pair of white gloves. Chic, simple, and glamorous, they are a lasting fashion staple. Lately, I have become more enamored than usual by white gloves. They convey such elegance and sophistication. I don't own any yet, but am constantly on the hunt for just the right pair.

Gloves were first worn for fashion by women in the 13th century. It wasn't until the 16th century, though, that they truly made their mark. Queen Elizabeth I wore jeweled and embroidered gloves, making them a true fashion statement! There are three general lengths for women's gloves: wrist (matinee), elbow, and opera (full-length.) My personal favourite, are the wrist-length gloves, like my ultimate style icon, Audrey Hepburn (pictured below).

    I adore gloves! If they're white, like you, I prefer them wrist-length, but I have a love affair with dark coloured velvet gloves that go up beyond the elbow. I saw them in moveis and especially if the woman wore a ring over them, I was floored with delight!

    I think gloves are classic beauty item, but for me personally I don't think I'd wear them. Unless they were fingerless lace gloves.

    I am a total glove girl. Not really because of any specific fashion statement that I am trying to make, but because I get really dry skin on my hands during the cold weather. Gloves are a necessity. I would be too worried about getting white gloves dirty.
