tribute: mary-kate and ashley magazine

In 2001, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen started mary-kate and ashley magazine. It was released bi-monthly and lasted three issues. Some may scoff and say the venture was a failure, but this magazine had a huge impact on my life.Whether it was my desperate hope that I may one day look like Mary-Kate or Ashley, this magazine began my interest in fashion. I devoured each page and picture, wondering if I could ever be that girl.

As much as I love Jersey Shore, I was not a fan of Deena Cortese's rainbow coloured VMA dress. Instead of being fun, it came across as quite tacky. (Though that may have more to do with combination of the hair, makeup and dress....or the fact that it is Deena.) Despite this, it really inspired me! I have become really interested in rainbow colours. With summer coming to a close, I am clinging to the every vibrant colour I can!

our minds want clothes as much as our bodies.

Today I was feeling very 80's inspired. I decided to rock the dangling cross/stud earring combo, wore a jacket with shoulder pads, my new Material Girls ruffled shorts, and a pair of cropped leggings. I'm not entirely sure why I woke up in the 80s today, but I am certain that my ultimate 80s crush, Corey Feldman, would have approved.

makeup tutorial: sucker punch

I watched Sucker Punch a few weeks ago. I know this is probably old news, by oh my goodness, the makeup! I loved the movie itself - visually it simply beautiful. The film was dark, dramatic and daring. However, the entire movie, I could not stop admiring Baby Doll's makeup. It was dramatic, but beautiful. It captured the characters innocence, but still looked sexy.

Bookstores are my weakness. I made a promise to myself not to buy any new books until I finished the ones I have....this plan backfired. Chapter's had this great sale - buy three books, get the fourth free. I planned on buying four books, but left with eight. Oops?

I came across this stunning campaign the other day. It is fueled by romance, whimsy, and seduction. Woven into each photograph is a rich and arresting story. The campaign is the Fall 2011, Americana Manhasset and is entitled Venice Unmasked. Perhaps you will have a similar reaction to the photographs.
