It is almost impossible for me to leave a thrift store empty handed, especially when there are sections dedicated to music and movies. Well, there is one thrift store near me that is entirely dedicated to music and movies. This is not a place that I am able to visit often, because I am simply unable to hold back seeing so many wonderful items. (Music, movies, and television shows are all weaknesses of mine. I find so much comfort in the words and stories of others.) After several months away, there was a random visit that resulted in an armful of media. It is time to take a closer look at some recent thrifted finds.
New Records. This particular thrift store has rows and rows of records to look through. Unfortunately, they are not organized by genre at all, so it takes a lot of time to flip through everything and see if there is anything of interest. That work paid off after finding a copy of Electric Youth by Debbie Gibson (I have this album on cassette from my youth, but was excited to find a vinyl version) and Where The Blue Of The Night Meets The Gold Of The Day from Bing Crosby. I love Bing Crosby and am always on the lookout for items to add to my modest collection, so it was a thrill to find a record with songs from his earlier films.
Mad Men TV Show and All Sorts of Christmas Movies. In addition to the movies shown above, the complete series of Mad Men was purchased for a really affordable price. (As mentioned in a recent post, Mad Men has been my binge watch recently.) I completely forgot to photograph it, because I was watching episodes of Mad Men while taking blog photos. Oops! As for the rest of this thrift store haul, there were so many Christmas movies from my wish list at the store. There were lots of cartoons, a Christmas special from Perry Como, and two cute movies that I have been searching for endlessly. I saw both Santa Who? and 12 Christmas Wishes For My Dog on streaming services, but loved them and wanted to add them to my collection.
It was so much fun to browse the thrift store and discover all sorts of hidden treasures. When life feels stressful, overwhelming, or uncertain, it is entertainment that allows me to escape from it all. Thank goodness for music and movies!
