Got the itch to splurge on a brand new wardrobe? Warm weather is the perfect excuse to do just that. Leave behind those bulky layers, heavy sweaters, and that waterproof wardrobe. Now is the time to swap out those items for colourful tank tops, lightweight fabrics, and shorts. The latter is a summer staple like no other. Each and every year, fashionistas wow with this seasonal must-have. Simply put, shorts are amazing. Why? They can look casual, dressy, or even glam enough to dazzle on a night out. The bad news? Shopping for shorts is often easier said than done. It can be tricky to find the right length, fabric, and fit. Need a little help? These shopping tips will point you in the right direction.
Start By Understanding Your Body Type. The best place to start on your pre-shopping journey is to have a solid understanding of your body type. This will determine the type of shorts that flatter you most. Say for instance, that you are petite. Longer shorts can make you appear shorter than you actually are. On the other hand, super short shorts can make a tall person appear to have disproportionately long legs. Before you go into your shopping day (either online or in store) do your research and be as aware as possible of the styles that suit your body type. It will make a big difference.
Get The Right Cut. Now that you know your body type, you can officially begin the
search. Look for shorts that will compliment you as much as possible. Want to
camouflage your mid-section? Skip low-rise shorts and grab a pair of (super on
trend and 70s inspired) high waisted shorts instead. This style also gives the illusion of
longer legs which is great if you are on the short side or have shorter legs.
Don’t want to wear skintight short shorts? That is totally okay. Looser fitting
shorts can look totally gorgeous. Choose a pair in a lightweight fabric or
something seasonally appropriate like linen or lace. Another option is a Bermuda style short in a dark
wash. Of course there are also short-shorts. These aren't necessarily a fashion no but be mindful of the length. Ideally, you want complete coverage.
Keep Your Personality In Mind. Finding a flattering summertime style is one thing…. but feeling good in
the pair of shorts you choose is quite another. Keep your own style preferences in mind
while you shop. The cut is just one part of the equation! Maybe you prefer the
look of a light wash denim. Or you like colourful prints and designs. Perhaps you prefer something that is ultra distressed with edgy details. Choose a pair of
shorts that fits you well, flatters your body type, and showcases your
own personal style. This is an absolute must. The right pair of shorts will help you feel
your best all season long.
Have at Least Three Pairs. Okay, let’s be honest. A single pair of shorts just isn’t going to
cut it. Especially when they need to last you the entire summer. The number you choose to add to your
wardrobe is entirely up to you…but aim for at least three. Ideally, you want
one pair of ultra-flattering and versatile shorts, a dressier pair (think ones
you could wear to dinner or to a nighttime event), and a trendier pair (ones with a bold
print or colour). The end result? A pair of shorts for every occasion.

Dresses are always a good idea, too! Shorts are a good staple to have though.
DeleteI needed this guide! I am a person who never can find shorts she truly likes on
ReplyDeleteWell, I hope it was helpful! I was the same way for a long time but now I have shorts that suit me and that I feel good in. Thank goodness!
DeleteGreat review and beautiful photos! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much!
DeleteI like shorts, but means I need to keep my legs shaved - should I really admit that lol ;-)
ReplyDeleteHa! I think that is a very relatable issue!
DeleteThank you so much for your comment!
ReplyDeleteGreat tips as always, Shannon:) I so agree that you need at least three:D I have quite a few but I'm pretty sure some of them don't fit anymore (boo on weight gain) so I really want to get new ones, but alas, no buying for me until next year. I might just cut some old pair of jeans if I get desperate:P
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday!
Yes, three seems to be the magic number. And ha, same. I need to go through all of my older pairs of shorts (even though there are several in my closet, I always seem to rotate through the same few pairs) and weed out any that don't fit anymore.
DeleteOh well I do not think I will wear any as my age :( but these are very nice :))

Deletepick the wrong gown and no amount of accessorizing will fix the mistake. That's why when it comes to women's fashion, dress shopping is something that women need to learn more about before the occasion calls for it. stoner emojis
