new in: real techniques brushes + makeup tools

Having a solid set of makeup tools is essential. The right brush (or brush set) makes it possible to create a wide array of fabulous looks. From everyday to a glamorous night out...the tools you have on hand can make the task super simple or somewhat frustrating. When it comes to brushes, everyone has their own preferences. For me? I am all about Real Techniques. In my opinion, this is the absolute best brand for the price. The brushes are affordable, the quality is impressive, and the brushes last for ages before needing to be replaced. In fact, according to an old blog post here on the creation of beauty is art. I purchased my first set of Real Techniques brushes back in 2012. Though I have added several to my collection since then...I've still been using those original brushes daily. And they still work perfectly! Despite the fact that the bristles are intact and the brushes work well, I decided to add some newer brush sets into the mix. Here is a peek at two Real Techniques brush sets and a brush holder from Urban Butterfly.

Real Techniques Flawless Base Set

First up in this mini makeup tool haul is the Flawless Base set. This is essentially for face products and includes a buffing brush (my absolute favourite brush to apply foundation with), square foundation brush (which I actually like to use to blend and apply cream contouring products), contour brush (which is perfect for applying powder contouring products), and a detailer brush (it works well for applying concealer or getting into smaller areas of the face). There is also a small brush holder in the same rose-orange colour the brush handles have. All in all, this is a fabulous set of brushes. I am thrilled to have a back up for my beloved original favourites. Plus, the metallic finish on the handles adds an extra special pop to this already fabulous set.

Real Techniques Enhanced Eye Set

There are two brushes from the original Enhanced Eye set that I use literally every single day. For every single makeup look I create. This new set has similar brushes but they aren't exactly the same. On one hand, this is upsetting because I really wanted a back up for my beloved brushes! On the other hand, these are also really fantastic and work wonders. This particular release from Real Techniques includes: the fine liner brush (a very thin tip that works well for gel liner application), essential crease brush (a fluffy brush that builds colour in the crease and can blend out shadow with ease), shading brush (a denser brush to apply shadow to the eyelid), medium shadow brush (a large domed brush that works well for one-shadow makeup looks), and a lash separator. This set also comes with a purple brush holder and has a gorgeous purple metallic finis on the brush handles. It is a well rounded eye brush set that works well and can help create a ton of stunning looks.

Urban Butterfly Makeup Brush Holder

Last up in this makeup tools haul is a brush holder from Urban Butterfly. This is something I was given a while back but just recently got around to using. Essentially the top is a rubbery texture and your makeup brushes can fit right inside those little flower petals. The brushes hold well in here and it allows you to see what you have an access your brushes with ease. However, what I use this holder for is to dry my brushes. After doing a deep clean of my brushes, I can simply let them air dry easily with this handy makeup brush holder. It is excellent and ultra convenient! This has been a wonderful addition to my makeup tools.

All in all, I am really pleased with both the Real Techniques sets and the makeup brush holder. These are stellar products that work well, are high quality, and add just a touch of ease to my day-to-day routine.

Have you bought any new makeup tools lately?
