Certain styles are a must come the summer season.
Tank tops and cut off shorts are a given. Kimonos and fringe are all the rage.
But one enduring – and versatile – style has to be the maxi dress. Known
for its floor-grazing length, these dresses are traditionally easy to wear yet
effortlessly stylish. No wonder so many of us instinctively reaches for this
stunning summer staple. When it comes to making your maxi as versatile as
possible, especially with the fall season looming, the key is styling. These tips will help you look your best all day and
night in any season.
Dress to impress. Those words are always true….
even when you have casual daytime plans. During the summer and fall months, there are
so many things to see and do. Like an afternoon spent at a park,
time at an outdoor concert, or special seasonal events. That means it is important to style your maxi dress in a way that is fresh and flirty.
Where to begin? Keep your hairstyle simple. Pull long or
medium hair into a sleek topknot bun. If you have a shorter style, use a bit of
gel and smooth the hair back. These styles are dramatic yet easy to achieve.
Now for your accessories. Don’t be afraid to put a flirty spin on whatever you
wear. Think a floral headband, a pair of cat-eye sunglasses, a neon handbag,
and some chunky wedges. This is your chance to embrace trends and get a little
adventurous with style.
Why wear that old cover up to the beach? These days, it is
easy to amp up your style and enjoy the last remaining days of summer. Switch out that basic wrap and throw your favourite
maxi dress over your swimsuit instead. It is just as comfortable – but will
give you the polish and poise you crave. How can you make your maxi nice and
beachy? Start with the hair. Keep your hair down in relaxed loose waves. Try
showering before bed. Put your damp hair in a bun, go to sleep, and let the bun
down before you head to the beach. Gorgeous waves without heat.
Ready for accessories? To style your maxi in an effortless,
easy, and practical way, add on some beach essentials. (It's okay that the summer season is almost over. This beach inspired look will keep that summer feeling alive just a little bit longer!) Think a giant tote or
cute beach bag, an oversized pair of sunglasses, and some colourful flip-flops.
Simple yet effective. For a little extra flair, add on a woven belt or wear a
tinted lip balm. You will be beach ready in no time!
It might sound impossible…. but the same maxi dress you
wore to the grocery store can look just as great at a special event or a
night on the town. A little styling can go a long way! Ideally, your dress
should be limited in terms of patterns and prints and come in a darker
colour. But regardless, you can make any and all maxi dresses work. If the weather is chilly, add on a structured blazer or cute cardigan.
The key is to think about sophistication and glamour. A bold red lip,
some winged eyeliner, sparkling stud earrings, a simple yet elegant necklace, a
tasteful clutch, and some kitten heels. Think about how you would accessorize a
more traditional evening dress. Apply that to your maxi. This glamorous styling
will blend evening wear with a laid-back ease in a way that is bold,
exciting, and appropriate.
