how to snag selfie worthy hair during travel

The travel bug has bit me hard. It seems that lately I've been dreaming of exotic locations and adventures to be had. Though there are no definite plans in the near future, travel is on my mind. Are you gearing up for an exciting vacation of your own? Then this post is for you.

Every travel snap should be something special. Regardless of whether you are sitting poolside or sightseeing in a far off country, there should always be one constant: great hair. There is nothing worse than trying to snap a super cute vacation selfie only to find out that hair is a total disaster. It happens, especially when you are in the midst of a long day of sightseeing. So, how can you keep your locks looking gorgeous and photo ready? These tips are all you need for fabulous selfie-worthy hair.

Pack Travel Sized Everything. Packing your suitcase is never easy. There are so many things to consider. Like what you actually need and how much space you have. This is why travel sized items are so handy. Make the most of them! Bring along travel sized hair care products like shampoo, conditioner, dry shampoo, hairspray, and even mousse. All of your go-to hair products should be accounted for. Something to keep in mind? This is not the time to try out new products since you don't know how your hair will react to them. Stick to brands you have tried before or DIY travel sized versions of your current favourites by using clear plastic bottles to tote around your must-haves.

Protect Your Hair From UV Rays. Are you going somewhere warm? Then you need to think about protection. Not just for your skin but your hair as well. Bring along a heat protect or UV spray (there are also hairsprays on the market with UV protection) and apply it before you head out into the sun. It might be tempting to skip this step but if you do, you run the risk of experiencing dry and frizzy looking hair. Protecting it from those harsh rays will keep your hair healthy and beautiful throughout the trip.

Choose Your Hairstyles Carefully. There is power in a good hairstyle. You probably have a couple of styles that you like to wear over and over again. That is totally fine....except when it comes to travel. You may need to change things up in order to keep your hair looking great from morning until night. For instance, if you are visiting a hot or humid climate, then stick with updos. If you are in a windy area, try out braided styles instead. Or if you are walking around a lot, put an edgy twist on a classic ponytail. You can achieve the latter by adding volume to the crown or curling the length.

Embrace Hair Accessories. Maybe you're about to snap a seriously incredible photo but you notice something is missing. Chances are, it is a hair accessory. These are a great way to add a little personality to your ‘do. Plus they help keep your hair exactly where you want it. (This is always a good thing.) Carry a large clip, a headband, and a flower barrette in your purse. You never know when these add ons might come in handy! That clip can hold back your hair in a pinch, the headband will keep bangs and baby hairs away from your face, and that floral accent will give you a fun and flirty look.

Why settle for sub-par travel selfies? You can make them extraordinary with just a little bit of planning. These tips are all you need to achieve enviable hair. Talk about a stylish way to see the world!
