dressing for festival season.

Festival season is here! What could be more exciting? Whether you are planning to check out local festivals, head to Los Angeles to enjoy Coachella, or are simply looking for a fun weekend trip, now is the time to do it. Here’s the thing…. festivals aren’t just about awesome music and Instagram snaps. It is also about great fashion. Over the last several years, festival fashion has become just as exciting as the main event. Are you planning to check out one of the upcoming festivals? Then you need to look the part. These tips will help you dress for festival season with ease.

Don’t Leave Home Without Denim. There is something special about denim. Not only is it totally classic and stylish – but it is also a must have for festival season. If you want to look your best, make sure denim is part of your look. You can always wear a pair of denim cut offs or add a little vintage flair to your outfit by rocking a pair of 70s inspired flares or denim overalls.

Look For Statement Cut Outs. Most of the time, statement jewellery is totally on trend. At a festival? Leave the statement jewellery behind and opt for statement cut outs. Choose a piece with a backless detail or something with cut outs on the shoulders. This will instantly give your outfit that chic yet laid back festival look.

Play With Prints As Much As Possible. It wouldn’t be festival season without bold prints. I’m not talking polka dots or hearts, but something super bold and dramatic. In the past, stars like Katy Perry sported tropical fruit prints and Solange Knowles wore lemons. Anything goes! Don’t be afraid to wear something a little bit different. This is your chance to shine.

Add In Flowers. Spring flowers are beautiful…. so why not incorporate them into your hairstyle? Pick up a cute floral crown, add flowers into a braided style, tuck a larger flower behind your ear, or use the stem to accent your ponytail. Get creative, go flower picking, and make sure your hairstyle stands out from the crowd.

Make Sun Protection Look Good. You are going to be outside all day long. That means you need a great sunscreen as well as a few other essentials, like sunglasses and a sun hat. Make sun protection as fashionable as possible by sporting a pair of sunglasses covered in pearls or in a bright colour. You can also throw on a super floppy sun hat to complete the look.

Festival fashion is nothing short of extraordinary. There is a reason so many of us look forward to outdoor festivals each and every year. They give you a chance to look your best, strut your stuff, and have fun.

Another way to have fun during festival season is to get creative with makeup. There are plenty of fabulous products to experiment with! In fact, there is a glitter eyeshadow palette featured in the Hard Candy Favourites Set that would work perfectly for festival season. Take a peek at the palette (and some other Hard Candy products) in my latest YouTube video....

Will you be attending any festivals this year? What will you wear?
