When it comes to my makeup, I love a bit of drama. Which is why I adore false eyelashes. (I only wish I was better at putting them on!) False eyelashes have been applied since the beginning of the 20th century. They were first used in the 1916 film, "Intolerance." The director wanted actress Seena Owen to have lashes that brushed her cheeks, in order to make her eyes appear bigger. They were originally created by a wig maker, who wove human hair through gauze. This was then gummed to Seena Owen's eyelids.


So there you have it - a brief history of false eyelashes! I personally just love the drama and fullness they add. Perfect for a night out! I am also so in love with the crazy dramatic lashes! They look beautiful in photographs!

    I love the way false lashes look but I have never ever worn them myself. I have applied them on other people though.

    I think they are really cool (most of the time) I have worn more natural looking ones, but for fancy-dress they are great :)

    Great post! Had never heard of when they were first seen in film. I want to start wearing them because I have such stubbly lashes that it would help give me some drama for sure!

    I love the lace lashes. I don't wear them to school but only for a party. I have fake lashes with a glitter edge.

    I love love LOVE False lashes, but I don't wear them too often, I'll be wearing a set tomorrow for a concert, its one of those concerts were you have a chance of meeting the band, and I could not be more excited!!

    As a beginner concerning makeup (I think it's been only 3 months since I really started getting into it) I haven't tried false lashes yet but I love love them and I'll be buying some pairs with the glue soon!! :D so excited!
